  • So far unsure...

I’m trying to use Duet Display between my MacBook Pro and iPad Pro (2018 model) via USB-C to HDMI adapter (MacBook is 2015 so does not have USB-C). So far, despite the apparent lack of support for HDMI, the app seems clunky, has grammatical errors (no big deal but this all adds up), and doesn’t give great instructions. I hope I can buy a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort or USB 3.0 adapter and make it work, but they are pretty unclear about what connections work aside from what connections work in the iOS side of the connection. (Which is obvious, my iPad only has one port.) Currently wishing I had not purchased this app, but waiting to give it a lower score until I try it with the other connections. UPDATE: I got the correct cables and the display was lower quality and had some lag, so I don’t use it.
  • Never has worked with my Windows 10

Ok, I know I make life difficult because I run the fast ring prerelease of Windows 10. But I paid money for Duet and it gives me a Windows green screen every time I run the Windows software. Developers should be running the same prereleases and making the necessary tweaks to ensure their software runs.
  • Took some playing around with to great right, but works great

The app loaded right up and was simple to setup. I only had a brief issue with my mouse flickering on my iPad screen when connected to my MacBook Pro. After adjusting the resolution settings (changed to new resolution then back to original) the issue went away. It’s an awesome app, I can se myself using this a lot while on the road.
  • If you want more frequent app updates, you have to PAY

If you download the app, there is an in-app purchase option called Duet Air and Duet Pro. These 2 cost money and in the description, it said “Monthly updates and upgrades”. So if you paid one-time for the app, you have to wait for a long time for updates to come in.

Love this app. Worth the price; I use it all of the time. It’s seamless: plug in the iPad, open the app.
  • Not worth the headache

Purchased the basic version a few months back. Brand new iPad with a couple years old Mac. Duet is extremely finicky. Works about 50% of the time for me. You have to make sure you don’t download any external plugins because it doesn’t play well with other applications. Oh and if you want to get help, you can’t. So don’t bother, just skip this external monitor application and look for another
  • Screen color on ipad is poor and it freezes

Screen color on ipad is poor, it looks like an old one, even with Ipad pro. It freezers and so on. Have a second thought before u buy it.
  • Pro version free trial was great but then...

The free trial was flawless, but as soon as my payment went through, all Pro features were disabled. I contacted their tech support team, who told me to uninstall/reinstall, which I ultimately did several times. Victor then told me it was a billing issue and to contact Apple. When I sent Victor a screenshot of my paid, year-long subscription, I didn’t get any response. After many uninstall/reinstalls, I was able to restore my purchase, only to have the Windows app crash repeatedly, or cause a black screen timeout on the ipad. On the rare occasions that the connection is successful, the Apple Pen often gets disconnected, requiring me to unplug the cord and start the whole maddening process from the beginning. If the connection is successful, the pressure settings glitch out in Illustrator, which is the whole reason I wanted this app. I’ve spent many hours troubleshooting this, and I’m beyond frustrated. Requested a refund. Basic ‘second monitor’ features seem fine, which is the only reason for the 2-star rating. Pro version would get less than 1 star if I could.

Easy UI, and the experience has been world class. My only troubles have been a bit of lag, but after a few minutes it’s no longer an issue. I’d give 5 stars if I could display to multiple iPads.
