There are features missing from the desktop versions, the missing tags system is a huge loss
  • Can’t select multiple items

I want to love Evernote.... The idea is great! The app is fine. Other than the fact that I can’t select multiple items at once. Each note has to be moved individually, or deleted individually. That, my friends is idiocy and I had to take two stars off for that and that you can’t print from the app either?! Oh and the search function, you have to spell and space perfectly or what you’re looking for can’t be found. I hear customer service is terrible too.
  • Its a must.

Only paid members are worthy to contact their customer service team, ridiculous?! You will never find the way to receive a fair response on their technical issue if you don’t pay.

I really don’t know how anybody gets by without an electronic notebook that can be accessed from multiple devices like Evernote. With the free text search, and smart use of tags, I can instantly pull up information when and where I need it. I use the paid version so I can access my data on multiple devices and offline. Totally worth it!
  • Great memory and categorization app

This is one of my favorite things. It has great value to capture things you need to capture, including things you don't even know why you are saving. Buy it, you'll like it. Many of the things that people complain (whine) about are often a lack of knowledge. If you look at the help, or ask a question, you may find the answer. This is an extremely versatile, useful and memory aiding app. You can do todo's contrary to prior notes. Update may 2019 This is probably old news to some, but learned a very painful lesson recently. I had some critical information stored on Evernote for an emergency. When I went to retrieve it, I was in a remote location with no cell or internet coverage. To my dismay, it appears you no longer have access to a note when you are incommunicado. Be very careful not to store any critical information if it relies on internet or cell access. Duplicate the info on a reliable local source as you may find yourself in a very surprising situation. Besides that, still a useful and well done app, but still.....
  • Outdated IOS, not reliable and lack of features

It’s no surprise that EVERNOTE has been struggling. For years I’ve stuck with them hoping they would fix and improve but I’ve come to the realization they just aren’t competitive in this market place. They continue to invite users feedback and although new owner has just taken the helm I feel it’s too late for this software and team to rebound. I’m moving my notes and canceled my premium account as it’s still to be paying for a service that just doesn’t give me what I want (more reliability, faster more responsive UI and better looking typography and font) to name a few. It’s a shame because how much I used the software through the years but that’s not to say it came with great frustration.

I purchased the app in the App Store and it did not work and continued to function as unpaid. I then purchased it from Evernote directly and it did work using the same email and login. I was double billed for months until I recognized it and neither Apple nor Evernote cared that they they were both getting paid for the same account.

If you’re looking for a note taking app, keep looking. I have been using Evernote for close to a decade now. For most of those years I’ve been premium or plus level paid account. In recent years they really let themselves go. Premium evernote account is now almost as expensive as Office 365 which includes OneNote in addition to outlook word excel access and others. Perhaps my biggest gripe beyond pricing is that when I move from one platform to another the fonts in my lists and notes don’t transfer correctly. I’m sure this doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it is incredibly distracting to have sentences shift from one font and perceived size to another back and forth. I tried to defect to OneNote (which is now free!) but with thousands of notes it was hard to adopt to their unique ecosystem and I came crawling back.

I love using Evernote—it has made a huge difference in organizing my life. All of the photos and notes that would have been in separate files or notebooks or scraps of paper are all in the same place and easy to find.
