Google Wifi App Description

The Google Wifi app lets you set up and control your Google Wifi points or OnHub right from your mobile device. It puts you in control of your network -- easily share your Wi-Fi password, see what devices are online, prioritize them for better performance, or pause the Wi-Fi on kids’ devices. The app also provides insights to help you get the most out of your Wi-Fi. Here’s what you can do with the Google Wifi app: • Set up your Google Wifi system or OnHub in just a few minutes • Prioritize a device for faster speeds when it matters most • Pause the Wi-Fi on kids’ devices • See what’s connected to your network and how much bandwidth you’re using • Create a separate network for your guests • Run a network check to test your connection speed • Make changes to your settings, such as your Wi-Fi network name and password • Add a network manager who can help you monitor your Wi-Fi

Google Wifi App Reviews

  • Crap App

    Good hardware. Crap app.
  • The install is a breeze!

I really don’t understand the negative reviews at all. Great out of the box experience with the three WiFi points for the mesh network, they look clean and modern, and using the app makes the install extremely easy. I have not noticed any slowdown in the network speed. Highly recommended!
  • Fantastic with ASUS Onhub

    By David.88
I’ve been using the Google WiFi app with my ASUS OnHub since Jan ‘18—first with Spectrum cable and now with my Google Fiber service—and it’s been fast and reliable despite my 25+ devices, simultaneous 4K streaming, and the crowded radio-signal environment of an apartment building. Side note: I’d definitely recommend the ASUS OnHub over the Google WiFi model for its better performance and range. I’ve only had a couple issues with the app. First, theres an issue where devices connected to the Guest WiFi network are shown as having a “wired” Ethernet connection or just inconsistently display whether a device is connected to the Guest network. This doesn’t appear to affect performance or functionality in any perceptible way, but it’s obviously wrong info (e.g. my iPad for guests shows as having a wired connection). My second issue is that the app doesn’t automatically update network information in real-time. I have to either restart the app or navigate to other parts of the app and then come back to get the latest network info.

The app doesn’t properly report wired vs mesh connected additional access points. Seems the access points also don’t seem to properly handle using a wired connection to the main point when available. Very frustrating.
  • Love it!!

Easy to navigate, easy to use!
  • Outstanding app and hardware.

Anyone complaining about the app or hardware must be profoundly tech challenged. As an IT professional I have installed dozens of these on the past year. Each system is up and running in no more than 10 minutes, and none of them have gone down, ever. Powerful, solid wifi.
  • Terrible Support

    By masuarezdl
I bought the Devices about a year ago and had a bit of trouble while installing. However, after struggling a few hours I managed to get it to work and has been great from a hardware standpoint. However, the app doesn’t work now (message saying that the version is no longer supported) and I cannot download the upgrade from the AppStore (app no longer available). There is no phone support, it’s terrible.

  • Good but a suggestion

Since you have the emails of the administrators why not email them when there are issues with the end points? I look at my email every day, but not the WiFi app.
  • This app needs work

Just set up the WiFi network. That app walked me through and set up was okay. I would recommend they tell you to unplug your old WiFi router before starting the setup as that did affect the set up. I tried to set up the family controls but unfortunately no kids were home at the time so I just skipped that step. Now that option is gone. Please fix that.
