Qustodio Parental Control App Reviews

It doesn’t work. First, the “filtering” function somehow manages to keep my kids from using genuine educational web sites. I had to turn it off completely. Second, it just arbitrarily decides to change the rules on some devices at random times. It decided one child needed a time limit on his phone. I didn’t do this, and I changed the rule a week ago, only to have it change back to a time limit yesterday. Finally, customer service is non-existent. I was unable to install the app on one phone and one iPad. I submitted a customer service request three weeks ago and have received the same canned response now for three weeks in a row telling me that “my issue has been escalated to the engineering team and it’s being worked on. Unfortunately, we cannot provide an estimated time for resolution.” My kids also complained that it slowed down their phones, but this didn’t bother me all that much and would be a small price to pay if this horrible app actually worked.
  • Leaves much to be desired

I hardly ever leave reviews. But felt the need to do so on this one I expected great things from this app but it’s far from where it should be. First, it doesn’t work right. The other night, I was literally sitting next to my son. He had gone over his time by 45 minutes or so. I pulled up the app and it didn’t even register that he was active. History was missing a bunch of stuff I know he was on. So really I have no idea if the reports are accurate or not. The controls are frumpy. To temporarily restrict a day I have to change the schedule which means if I forget to change it back, it becomes a permanent change each week. Most of the history (which was hard for me to find) is the location GPS tracker. User interface is awkward. It doesn’t feel intuitive and even after using it for months I still have trouble remembering where to go to find certain controls. I could go on. Hopefully it’s being developed. I have downloaded and tried out MANY parent control apps and have yet to find one that fires on all cylinders. This one looked to be the closest I could find but I’m disappointed at all the bugs and the fact that it doesn’t even track activity accurately, the one fundamental thing I need most from it. I have a year subscription. I hope it’s better before my subscription is up.

  • Does not work for Apple

This product does not work on Apple phones. There’s no one to call and you are auto-billed though your iTunes. Don’t buy this product!

This app had features that I needed to protect my daughter’s iPhone ...problem is you can EASILY uninstall directly from the home screen on the iPhone and less transparently on the android ... My daughter searched you tube and found A video that showed her how to uninstall the app from her android phone... Can’t tailor the screen limits to specific days and times on the iPhone but can on the android .... Cons: Child can easily uninstall the app on the iPhone and with some ingenuity can succeed in uninstalling app on the android
  • Meets my needs

I use the program to limit screen time for my son with autism and create opportunities for him to earn more time by doing less preferred activities like going to the store. I have had a couple glitches where it does not appear to work as expected but am overall pleased with it.
  • App needs passcode protection

    By Jaap Shane
If your kid gets a hold of your unlocked phone there’s nothing stopping her from unblocking all their devices. There is no passcode or fingerprint to protect the app from unauthorized use. It only takes a few seconds Kaspersky gets this right. You can too.

  • Help! Please fix this app ASAP!

This app used to work a couple years ago on iPhone. You could install it and then you would have to login to the portal to get a password to uninstall it. Now it just uninstalls without any password or the one you unlock your phone with. It can be uninstalled by anyone in a few seconds! What about children who use iPhones? What about adults trying to filter their internet on iPhones? This makes the app useless now. Please fix this. Fix the MDM management. Not many people own both iPhones and Mac computers to use it. Why does mdm only work on Mac computers?Considered buying a used Mac but why do I need an extra pc I’m not going to use just to fix the phone. Many people have windows computers. If you need to make an app for windows to fix mdm please do that or make it like it used to be by requiring to get a password to uninstall through portal. Yes Qustodio works great on windows! It used to work great on iPhone before iOS 11 came out. It used to install with mdm erasing the iPhone and putting the restrictions on and be impossible to uninstall without logging into Qustodio portal to get an uninstall password all without an extra computer. Please fix this app in iPhone ASAP! I’m only giving it this many stars because it works great for windows on the desktop.
  • Inconsistent service

    By Brchodzin
Updated: I'm lowering my review from three stars to one, because of the inability to contact any live customer support. The app randomly started blocking voice mail (marked "always allow" in the rules), which is necessary for his job, and waiting two days for some kind of response is unacceptable. Would not recommend this app at all. (Original) When this app works, it’s great. Full access to the child’s device including text messages, to/from calls, websites browsed, apps used, etc. The problem is how inconsistently it actually works. It will often say the device is not being used, even when we’re in the same room and I see with my own eyes he's using his phone, the location tracker is offline for days at a time, some calls/texts don’t register in the timeline or on the report until days later if at all, and customer service is only accessible by email, with curt responses that don’t really give any information. For example, the response might be “device tracking is only available on Android.” Okay, it’s on Android so that’s not the problem, and is the issue being fixed? No information is given.
