Carista OBD2 App Description

Carista is a mobile app which empowers you to seamlessly diagnose, customize, and service your car. Just plug in your OBD2 adapter, launch the app, and save time and money on dealers and mechanics. Pricing: All paid features (see below) are available with an in-app purchase of our Pro functionality: a 1-week pass for $9.99 or an auto-renewable annual subscription at $39.99 USD (auto-renewing can be disabled in your Account Settings in iTunes after the purchase). If you use the official Carista OBD2 adapter, you will receive a free one-month trial of all paid features. Free Features: • Diagnose: Carista checks your vehicle's health and enables you to clear any fault codes to reset your “check engine" light. You can also ensure you are ready for emissions testing. Paid Features (supported vehicles only): • Diagnose: Unlike regular OBD2 apps, Carista gives you access to advanced manufacturer-specific diagnostics related to various vehicle electronic control units (ECU) such as ABS, airbag, immobilizer, navigation, and traction control. • Customize: Carista lets you personalize the way your car behaves. Say you want your headlights to come on automatically when you start the engine; or you want the doors to lock when you start moving; or you want to change the type of beep that the reverse parking sensors make. It’s as easy as customizing the settings on your smartphone. • Service: Carista gives you access to electronic service tools for your car. You can reset the oil & inspection service indicators, service your electronic parking brake (EPB) to replace your brake pads by yourself, and see your launch control count. Is my car supported? See: Hardware Requirement: In order to use Carista, you need an OBD2 adapter - a separate piece of hardware that you plug into the vehicle's diagnostic port under the dash. You can use the Carista OBD2 adapter or a generic ELM327 v1.4 WiFi adapter (just make sure it’s not fake/defective; note that generic Bluetooth adapters are not supported). I love this app. I knew I wanted to change a few characteristics of how the lights operate, windows operate, and the locking procedure for the car. I was able to change much more than I anticipated through the app and the supporting Carista adapter. Recently this new update came out, claiming that you can change the volume for the stupid sound aktor device Vw/Audi uses, and while most features added to the app work with my car, this one doesn’t seem to even show up as an option to change. I’m even able to change the torque steer compensator; so while the app has tons of features, some may claim to be compatible with your car but not functional. I’ll do 5 stars if the devs can fix the issue or come out and specify which models of Vw/Audi get the sound aktor ability. EDIT: function doesn’t apply to my vehicle. 5 stars added.

  • Great Value Vag Com Editor

Really nice program. Very well supported. I have gotten a number of extra features out of my car thanks to this program. Even after paying the fee for the pro version it’s still the best value vag com editor.
  • This thing is great!!

Bought their Bluetooth OBD adapter and this app to make some changes in my 4Runner. Used the free 30 use of “Paid Features” then got the year for $39.99 since it would allow me to experiment with my preferences. Well worth the convenience and relatively minor cost compared to running to a dealer for customizations. Just read and understand what you’re getting and you should be happy.
  • Must have for anyone with a VWAG product

Many of the VW/Audi defaults are incredibly annoying. This app will let you customize the behaviors of all the automated BS to be the way YOU want it to be. I probably would have sold my car without this app. New cars are AWFUL with all the computerized "features" constantly beeping and flashing at me, turning things on and off when I don't want them too, etc. This app and the genuine Carista adapter have been worth every penny, and then some. I also use the adapter with other apps to dig performance info out of the car's brain, check and reset fault codes, etc.
  • Slowest app on this planet

    By peter.alt
I really tried and was hoping to customize some of the behavior of my Jetta (2017). I purchased a compatible ODB II adapter (double checked reviews and compatibility list on Carista website to make sure it works) and was full of excitement. Connecting the dongle and starting the app was fine, but man, the app is slow. Even just reading the diagnostics took 10 minutes. I tried to see what modifications are available for my car, but I gave up after 20 min when the progress eventually hit 24%. I tried a second time and almost made it back up to 24% but a stupid gesture when swiping to the left (by accident!) caused the whole progress to reset. In short, I have not been able to use this app at all. Good marketing department, but lousy engineering team.
  • No American cars?

No support for American cars, please add American cars to customization list.
  • Great Device/App

I have a MKV VW GTI , I was able to set all the custom features I wanted. It's good for about 99% of what you would use a VCDS which would be much more. I used it to reset an airbag fault, and settings for controlling the windows and roof with the key fob. Customer service was great too I emailed them and they responded the next day.
