Drops is game-changing approach to language learning - quite literally. We took ‘boring’ out of vocabulary learning! Only 5 minutes a day: Drops limits your learning time to 5 minutes. This might sound crazy but works like charm. Learning a new language might feel overwhelming but by chunking down into 5-minute sprints, the barrier of entry is nonexistent. No excuses: you ALWAYS have 5 minutes! The time constraint induces ridiculous focus which further enhances the effectiveness of memorization. 100% Visual learning: Every single word is beautifully illustrated. Your eyes will appreciate the delicious pictures and your mind will store the new memories more efficiently: you won’t have use the word of your native language but connect the new words to the illustration of the meaning. Quicker, better and more fun! :) Effortless practice: We took a good look at why games are so fun and addictive and injected the essence into Drops to create not just a “gamified” learning app but a proper game experience! It is freakishly immersive but in this case you don’t waste your time playing instead you build a valuable asset: knowledge of a new language. Swipe based: We believe in quick pace and keyboard typing is anything but fast. Say hello to rapid swipes and taps! You’ll need those extra seconds to get the most out of your 5 minutes ;) Strategic vocabulary selection: The “what” is perhaps more important than “how”. We handpicked 1700+ practical words in 100 topics that you’ll actually use when you let’s say travel to a country where your new language is spoken. Forge learning habit: Drops wants to convert you into a learning addict. No matter how effective your learning tool is, if you don’t use it on a daily basis, it doesn’t really matter. Drops tricks your mind and you’ll be better for it! I’m sure you’ll love Drops as much as we enjoyed making it. If so, please leave us a review so we can make Drops even better! :) p.s.: We take full responsibility for the potential addiction to learning. ----------------- Keep tuned as even more languages are in the pipe! This app is essentially a fancy interactive replacement for flash cards. Not a bad app, all in all. Good art, the user interface is intuitive and if you are learning a language that doesn’t use the Latin alphabet, it offers the chance to learn the alphabet as well instead of just throwing you into the deep end like a lot of these apps. And the best part is that it’s interactive so you learn new words without having to do the mind-numbingly boring task of flipping through flash cards. Learning new words through simple games with visual and audio reinforcement is pretty ideal. That said, that is *really* all this app offers— vocabulary. Which is of course EXTREMELY important in learning any new language, but it is certainly not enough. You need to support your studying with a multitude of other materials whether other apps or textbooks... just something to implement *actual* grammar (with dedicated explanations) and content (with solid foundations). As for the premium packages, they don’t seem worth it. Having 5-10 minutes of studying at a time is perfect as both an app function (on-the-go learning) and a studying option. I have no desire to log in every day for bonuses or purchase premium plans because studying with this app for more than five or six minutes gets extremely boring and redundant real fast. You basically cycle through the same four or five games for the whole five minutes. I got the ten minute bonus and struggled to make it through the ten minutes, constantly wondering “Isn’t it over yet?” This app is also in charge of the words you are learning, which is the one disadvantage it has against traditional flash cards. You cannot decide “I just want to focus on these ten words today.” You gotta just go with whatever the app gives you, even if it’s three minutes of words you know extremely well. I believe the premium plan offers you this ability, but again, really not worth it given that plenty of free flash card apps work just as well for that need. TL;DR: +pros+ • game-ifies your rote memorization • audio and visual reinforcement • great for on-the-go learning • good supplement to more well-rounded learning materials • good for brushing-up on past-learned languages -cons- • can become repetitive and boring if played for too long at a time • not a stand-alone learning app— you absolutely cannot use only this app and learn a language properly • you don’t truly control what words you are learning and have only limited control even over what category of words you are learning • however, the premium features to fix the above issue are not worth it (for me personally at least, though I have not tried it) ~advice for the developers~ • offer a free premium trial please. and none of that “enter your payment information for the free trial so we can swoop in when you forget and charge you money” malarkey. ask for that information when the trial is over. • add new games so we aren’t cycling through the same few. experiment with different, even more interactive games (arcade style for instance). • offer different “template” options for the backgrounds. sounds like a silly suggestion but just that small modicum of control over our learning environment can help some people focus and learn better.
  • YAAAY!

I really like his app!! It lets you learn each word in several ways- rotating through several words and moving quickly. Yet it seems to work better that way!!! I’m super excited about this app!
  • Decent

I downloaded it for Korean. I felt that I didn’t have much of an opportunity to actually learn the words because the alphabet is new to me and the game encourages you to go fast. I switched to French, which I’m intermediate in, and found it a good way to review vocabulary and learn a few new words. I’ll give it a couple days more, but it doesn’t seem to fit my learning needs and style, and I will probably delete this app.
  • Good basic intro to hiragana

I like option of not learning words I already know, and using parts of word to spell.
