Shudder: Horror & Thrillers App Reviews

  • Must have for horror connoisseurs

    By Davincigreen1
While Shudder does lack a lot of new horror movies and popular classics, it DOES have a wide selection of slept-on and underground US horror/b-flicks, as well as a very diverse selection of foreign horror films. The tv shows available are also very good. The option of reading and writing user reviews for any movies or shows within the app is another cool feature. If you are a true horror fan, what this streaming service lacks shouldn’t steer you away from the many qualities it has in spades.

I accidentally set my account to a year subscription when I meant to do a monthly and the shudder team got back to me and changed it to a monthly and gave me a full refund in 3 hours time there selection is huge for horror fans and the monthly bill for only 5.99 is fantastic highly recommend you check it out
  • I am in trouble

I have tried multiple time to try and end my subscription on this game. And even after I did. I was still charged on my card. I am getting charged every month. And I get in trouble when I am in a negative balance. So do me a favor and end my subscription

  • A Great App with a Fantastic Vision

I really love shudder, namely because they take the genre seriously. I love that they give access to so many subgenres and hard to find titles (their Giallo collection is amazing, all the hits and even some lesser known gems). Of course they have your trashy horror flicks, but they are incredibly dedicated to building a library that rests on a foundation of film history and even film theory. I've been a member since they first came on the scene and I've seen their catalogue grow and expand. They invite notable horror figures to curate their own lists. In addition, I love their approach towards holidays and notable months. For things like African-American history month and pride month, they curated lists of notable horror films that not only feature the reference month, but they take great care to select titles from a plethora of eras, from all different styles and techniques. Their film movement focused collections are also wonderful, especially love the GIALLO! collection (huge Argento fan). Last but not least, THEY GOT JOHN CARPENTER TO DO THE THEME. Talk about paying their respects to the legends! Shudder did not come to play with the other subpar horror streaming apps out there. They came to show them how it's done. This is how you do a genre focused streaming site.
  • Better and better

I love the support that independent horror movies are getting. The selection of all kinds of horror movies grows and they don’t take the older ones down. So, this election gets better and better.
  • Room for improvement

I like the app overall, but there are some details, or the lack there of, that stand out to me. -I’m on an iphone XR so idk if it’s like this for everyone, but you can’t scrub the bar at the bottom to fast forward. I was able to do it successfully once, but now when I try, it just moves the entire screen and locks me out of my phone. -Browsing movies keeps showing duplicates as I scroll down. Maybe include an option to browse by letter or sort the titles alphabetically? That’s all I can think of, but if these things were improved upon, this app could go a long way. Thank you for you time. Keep on keepin’ on, Shudder team!
