Acorn TV: The Best British TV App Reviews

  • App quit working on iPad and iPhone-long time subscriber leaving

    By Sling Oldtimer
I have been an Acorn subscriber for several years and my preferred way to view Acorn TV has been the Acorn app from iTunes on my IPad and iPhone. I travel a great deal and I enjoy having my favorite shows available to me even when I leave the U.S. However, I have not been able to use the app on either device for 4 or 5 months. I get a pop up that says I need to "update my profile" but when I put in my login and p/word, it says "unable to update profile". I had contacted Acorn through the email provided on the app and received a response within a few weeks stating that they were looking into my problem. I have not heard from anyone since. Support is non existent. The only thing they do well is collect the subscription fee.
  • Bad quality and no support for TV app

    By ❤ 
When watching on an AppleTV the stream regularly gets blocky and blurry, sometimes pausing to buffer. This is Acorn. I have no trouble with Netflix, HBO, Amazon, ESPN, or anything else. I’ve got a solid 150/10 connection I never have trouble with. The app both on iOS and, more importantly Apple TV, does not integrate with the TV app. This means that searching for shows in the TV app doesn’t include Acorn TV in the results nor does the recently watched section show anything watched on Acorn TV. The missing search results is really bad since it means you need to search in two places if you want to see if it’s in the AcornTV app as well as I our other apps (like iTunes, Netflix, Amazon, etc.). Not much point in having the app if your global searches won’t check it. 😔
  • Finally A Good Apple TV Experience

    By THaley
The previous versions of the Acorn app on the Apple TV were the worst I have used on the platform. The previous Apple TV app lacked many of the basic features expected in a basic TV app. It was very different from the iPhone and iPad versions. The latest version (3.0) finally brings a quality Apple TV app worthy of the content. 👍👍👍
  • iPhone version will not connect to Chromecast

    By astrosco
While my wife’s Android version of the app will happily connect to our Chromecast, my iOS version doesn’t even appear to have the option. What the heck? Please add this feature!
  • How can any app be this bad!

    By shelleyaw123
I love your content and will probably still watch even though this is now the last place I go to to watch. I may even start watching it through Amazon Prime Channels. My biggest gripe is the constant stalling and crashing. I use an brand new iPad Pro so this is just unbelievable. There’s no autoplay, or controls to adjust video quality. The scrolling marquee has become my nightmare. The images won’t load until the entire site has loaded, that includes every thumbnail, of every show, and even then they don’t ever load. Sometimes the entire site just won’t play any videos. Just says they aren’t available. Just have give it up on those nights. This site has some of my favorite shows. It’s deleted some of my favorite shows. But content aside, please fix the app!!!

This show is absolutely fantastic!!! I am telling all my friends and family the have got to try Acorn TV. I love so many shows already. Great programming. Texas USA
  • Deal with it attitude::;;;RUDE!

    By jens001
Complained about the app not working on Apple TV, IPAD and no change has occurred. It’s expected that you will just deal with it. My subscription is for a year, but every time I attempt to use either one of these devices it forces me to sign up for a new trial subscription. I’ve called and called to no avail. Can’t get my money back.
  • No Response? 🤷🏼‍♀️

    By Goose n Boomer
I have paid for this for several months and every time I attempt to use it on my iOS devices it crashes. Every. Single. Time. I have sent several emails as instructed in the FAQ’s. The first time I excused it. The second time I was angry. The most recent email was a week ago and I have yet to receive a response. I’ve cancelled my bloody subscription. Sorry this didn’t work because I am Brit who NEEDED THIS APP!!!!
  • Updated review...

The recent update has fixed the Apple TV issue. So yay for that. Great content.
  • Never again, what a cheat

    By Laura McW
I subcribed to Acorn TV on my apple tv— and it worked twice. However when I cut ny automatic renewal to a month to month, it did not allow me to use the app on my apple tv. Decelopers should be ashamed. Never again.
