Acorn TV App Reviews

  • BritBox is a better app

    By aia901
Acorn has great content but their app and customer service is lacking in ability and functionality. They were very polite and and eventually told me to talk with Apple about the problem who spent over a half hour trying to help with an operational issue with their system to no avail. I had to call Acorn because although their system acknowledged receiving my filed complaint online (my first step) they did not respond in a timely manner.
  • I love it!

    By AliceR
Only one thing keeps me from giving it five stars, and that is the variable quality of the video and audio. For example, I love The Darling Buds of May, but the quality is poor. Certainly, the technology exists to remaster it. PS. It is annoying that I can’t connect it to my Apple TV because I subscribed directly through Acorn.
  • The Streaming App For Fire Stick is Awful

    By Guy In Jersey
When I decided to take the plunge into AcornTV it was with the hope I not only receive great television but also a stable app. The programming is terrific, but the app is awful. Not only does the app work correctly only 50% of the time I use it streaming via the Amazon Fire Stick, but if I stream on my phone via my home Wi-Fi (which has an extremely strong signal throughput the house) I continually receive a pop up message saying I’m using data... do I want to continue using the app. Thankfully I have a great plan with T-Mobile and have unlimited data usage so it’s not an issue but the continuing pop-ups really are. Please fix this!
  • Known problem with Apple

    By Classicrun
Cancel ASAP. Do not cancel thru Apple. Acorn will lie to you and say you must do it thru Apple. THAT IS A LIE. Call the number below. Keep calling. They will try lying and say it isn’t the correct number. NONE OF THE PHONE NUMBERS ONLINE ARE CORRECT. Call 844-734-8466. After speaking to multiple reps (difficult since it cuts you off), I learn Apple products often won’t work. I have 2 AppleTVs, a Macbook, 2 iPhones and an IPad. I gave up trying to get this to work. Got BritBox and have had fewer problems.
  • Love the programming but the iOS app broken

    By A.RoodAwakening
I can’t log into the iOS Acorn TV app no matter what I do. I use a password manager which works fine in a web browser but not in the app. Fix this!!!
  • I want to end my membership!!

    By Blacbarbie40
Nothing to watch really. No good shows anymore!! You guys make it difficult to cancel my subscription!
  • Love this app.

All the people complaining need to get a Roku device and stream it directly instead of using a third party. Most issues will disappear.
  • Glitchy, Frustrating & Difficult to navigate

    By Scottish Wife
There are CONSTANT stalls due to the “Not on WiFi” notification that is incorrect. Video stops, I restart & then wait & wait & wait for the restart, only to have the notification pop up again & again. The selections are awesome but using this app is so frustrating! Most selections don’t allow continual viewing from one episode to the next. Viewer is required to go back to the main menu to find the next episode! Selection descriptions don’t provide actor info other than names written within the description. Date of release is unknown. I like to know how old or current my selection is. There are just so many things wrong with this app, I can’t name them all. I absolutely love the offerings & that’s the ONLY reason I keep it.
  • Great Shows; Worst Tech Support Ever

    By Hernando Conwi
Acorn TV offers a fabulous selection of TV and a handful of movies for any Anglophile but their tech support is staffed by idiots who sling pre-prepared sound bytes instead of taking the time to read your e-mail and understand the issue. I signed on via Apple TV and so did not have to formally register for ATV with an e-mail/Password. Problem come when you use the iOS app and it asks for an ID/PW. Well, I don’t have one because I signed on via Apple TV. But the tech people kept sending me canned replies urging me to use my Apple ID to sign on (it did not work). Bye Acorn TV.
  • There should be a next episode/resume watching area

    By Ash1237654!
Sigh. As other reviews state, this app just isn’t set up like other similar apps. Let me use an extreme example to complain: Midsomer Murders, which currently has 20 seasons! And I want to watch the most recent season, so every time I want to watch a new episode I have to go into the show and scroll down and down and down and down and over in order to find the season and episode I want. Another simple complaint? There’s no need for the exaggerated largeness of the show blocks when you are scrolling through shows. Because of the scale increase on any show you have selected, you can’t read anything in its vicinity immediately above or below. Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??? Trailer options are pretty awesome though. And so are the show selections.
