Forest - Stay focused App Description

## Top productivity app in 126 countries. More than 2 million satisfied paying users. Featured in Apple's "Amazing Apps" TV commercial. ## Over 340,000 real trees were planted on Earth by our users. ## Staying focused with the cutest gamified pomodoro timer. “Forest works well, and if your goal is to be more in the moment, ignore your phone and actually talk to your friends when you are with them, this is the app for you.” — The New York Times “In order to establish new, better habits, it’s helpful to engage with tools that make it easier to reinforce them. For anyone looking to curtail their phone usage, the Forest app might be for you.” — Business Insider If you want to temporarily put down your phone and focus on what's more important in real life, you can plant a seed in Forest. As time goes by, this seed will gradually grow into a tree. However, if you cannot resist the temptation of using your phone and leave the app, your tree will wither. The sense of achievement and responsibility will encourage you to stay away from your phone, and will help you make better use of your time. Stop getting distracted by your phone, make you self-motivated and get more things done. Stay focused. Be present! STAY FOCUSED: • Function based on the Pomodoro technique (a.k.a. tomato timer, pomodoro timer) • Plant lovely trees and stay focused on what's more important in real life. • Turn your focused moments into a lush forest. GET MOTIVATED • Earn rewards and unlock new tree species. • Share your forest and compete with friends and users around the world. • Plant trees along with friends & family. • Unlock achievements and earn extra rewards. • Plant real trees on Earth and protect the environment with tree-planting organization Trees for the Future. STATISTICS • Manage your own tags and view detailed statistics of your time distribution. • Browse your weekly, monthly and even your yearly big forest. • Track your focused time in the Apple Health App. • Track your daily phone usage and screen time. • Recall memories of your planting journey with our brand new Forest Timeline! NOTICE • Forest is an app available for both iPhone and iPad, and can be accessed across all iOS devices with a one-time purchase. To download or unlock non iOS version of Forest, this requires a separate purchase. However, by logging into the same account, the account data can be synchronized across all platforms. • Due to budget constraint, the number of real trees each user can plant is limited to five. We will be introducing limited time events that will allow users to plant more real trees. Please follow our social media page or check the in-app announcement for more updates. • There is only one version of Forest on the App Store. Other apps that are similar and mimics Forest are not developed by the Forest team. Thank you for your support! • Working for me!

I get chronically behind in my paperwork at work, forest has been helping me set realistic time limits to try and finish one paper at a time. I also am really motivated by the chance that I might get enough points to plant a real tree!
  • Growing with Forest: Technology and Procrastination

    By jnbordallo
In a residential university setting, there are already so many distractions that I face. Most of my friends live just down the hall, social events occur every night, and activities in my dorm and clubs have become a part of my daily life. When I am finally able to escape this frenzy of socialization and sit down in the library, I confront the most tempting distraction of them all: my smartphone. I grew up in a generation of social media and personal technology, and in result, I have become somewhat dependent on the constant stream of information and entertainment available to me on my mobile device. From Twitter to Snapchat to Instagram, there are endless feeds to go through, videos to watch, and people to talk to. In the past, I have taken extreme measures in attempt to squelch my temptations toward the infinite scroll. I have turned off my phone, deleted applications, and logged out of accounts. Despite my efforts, I have always failed to honor my own restrictions, regardless of the fact that it is in my best interests. Because I had not found a solution to my tendency towards distraction, I decided to try ‘Forest,’ a focus-motivating iOS application for smartphones. Forest uses the symbol of a tree in order to motivate users to stop their phone use. When one uses Forest, one sets a timer on the app, and throughout the duration of the set time, a virtual tree grows. If one uses one’s phone as a timer is ongoing, the tree dies. In using Forest as a part of my student workflow, I found that its usability, aesthetic design, and conceptual design work well into my practice of study. Although I observed that the app helps me focus in times of high-intensity study, I will probably not use it in the future for relatively low-urgency schoolwork.

Super cute plants and I like that there’s not a pause option to let me cheat.

  • Self-Discipline Sold Separately

Love this app. And I think it can definitely bring a lot of value to people’s lives. The idea behind the app is the utilization of the pomodoro technique except that it removes the sterility from the process. I don’t have a blank timer, I have a tree that grows as my time moves closer and closer to its appointed completion. And if you use your phone, it Kills the tree. This tiny feature which seems superfluous requires you to think twice about importance of using your phone at that very moment. In spite of the understanding that it’s just a virtual tree, it actually does deter you from pausing your timer or using your phone. Very smart app that works weirdly well.
  • Focused (That’s It)

    By Jackwin720
I have to say I feel truly more focused since using this app. I see my tree growing and instead of answering notifications that are unimportant I just pu my phone back down and pay attention to what I was doing because I don’t want to kill my tree. I’ve found such great benefit with using this when I don’t want to use my phone. It’s an amazing app and if you haven’t tried it yet. I recommend you give it a try because it’s really helped me a lot.
  • Great productivity booster!

  • Strangely helpful!

Not sure how long my use of this will last. Seems I find something new to track time and progress every few months. But this app is well designed to keep you on point.
  • Nice and clean app!

Do help me focus on the work (though I have other devices, I spend less time on aimless surfing when the tree is growing)
