GoodReader is still the app I rely on most to use the iPad as a professional tool. Without GoodReader, I am not sure I could still consider the iPad as a very portable, almost full-strength computer. There are other very good apps which have become available since I found GoodReader many years ago, and more and more of them now perform one or another GoodReader function as well as or almost as well as GoodReader. But there is still nothing like GoodReader itself. Even if GoodReader never upgrades again, please do not become discontinued altogether. For one thing, I would not know how to organize and keep track of the tens of thousands of documents I now have on the iPad. I rely on GR for so much more as well. Thank you to the developers.
  • Be warned. This doesn’t connect to Google Drive. What a waste of time

You will get the error message below: 403. That’s an error. Error: disallowed_useragent This user-agent is not permitted to make an OAuth authorization request to Google as it is classified as an embedded user-agent (also known as a web-view). Per our policy, only browsers are permitted to make authorization requests to Google. We offer several libraries and samples for native apps to perform authorization requests in the browser.

This was recommended to me by an engineer back in 2012 when I first started using an iPad for work. I use this every day for Work (construction documents, specifications, etc) one way it's very handy is when I am e-mailed documents, I will save them here temporarily do I can reference the documents whether or not I have a Wi-fi connection. I also use it for my personal work stuff (Resume and portfolio), reference material (codes and technical bulletins)- but I also use it for keeping track of my daughters college recruiting process, teams that I coach, subjects that I teach, I could go on... Also where I have it synced to Dropbox I'm always sure that everything is getting backed up! Whenever anyone asks me what is the most important App to have, I always tell them Goodreader!

I have used GoodReader since 1995. I finally updated to the latest version. It has a lot more capability than I use, but for reading .txt files it is excellent. When smooth-reading, I need to be able to mark up the file if I find typos, scannos, or other problems. I can do that very easily with GoodReader. The inly problem I have with the app is my problem, not theirs. We don’t use icloud to store our stuff or to communicate between our ipads and the big computer. To reiterate, this is not GoodReader’s problem, it’s mine. And in the Grand Scheme of Things, it is a minor problem. I will give GoodReader four stars, because nothing is perfect. ^_^ (You can smooth-read too, just go to Distributed Proofreaders and help us make ebooks for Project Gutenberg.)

Good app for pdf markup. Had to pay to upgrade from iOS 10 edition. Nothing seems different from GoodReader from iOS 6. Especially the transfer to iPad screen… It’s very 2000s. This is a gimmick to get more money out of me. I won’t be paying to get this app again 👌
  • Can’t crop, can’t contact support

I purchased GoodReader 3 because I needed more robust FTP access, and I was happy with it. I haven’t needed that for awhile, so was somewhat frustrated to find that I had to purchase it again (instead of just upgrading, like most paid apps did for iOS 11), but decided to go for it for the functionality. When I discovered that it doesn’t HAVE the functionality I needed, I questioned my sanity for paying so much more than the going rate for this app, TWICE. I couldn’t find much in the GoodReader support documents about cropping, but was eventually able to find another forum that explained that the crop function is a view setting and doesn’t actually carry through into exports. WHY WOULD I BUY A PDF EDITOR TO MAKE EDITS TO MY PDF THAT I CAN ONLY VIEW IN THE EDITOR?!?!?!? I paid $4.99 to waste my time cropping pages as an exercise in futility? Even more impressed to find that all of the support and contact links on your website launch a javascript that my iPad can’t open. So much for supporting Apple products... So, instead of reaching out to troubleshoot my problem, I’m forced to rant here. Can’t wait to see what you charge for GoodReader 5.
