  • Now hangs each time I use it

    By otterman
For the last 6 or so months, every time I use this app it freezes, which is probably why I haven’t been using it much. After forcing it closed and opening it again it’s still frozen and I have to repeat the process. Getting tired of that.
  • Earlier version was better

I wished everything (like search, and files in landscape mode) opened up in the same screen instead of in little dialog boxes. This new version is cluttered and laggy.
  • Ehhh ...

There’s nothing technically bad about this app, it’s just limiting aesthetically. Functioned well, but I prefer something that allows for more stylization and flexibility to my markdown editor.
  • Writing became beautiful in iOS.

This minimalist writing app is a thing of beauty. I’d call it Procreate for writing.
  • The best

Love the new dark icon for Mac and iOS. Still the best writing tool. Wish there was a little better navigation based on Markdown formatting sections, and also more file sync options. But it still sets the standard for writing cross platform.
  • Please Help

I have spent a great deal of time over the years searching for and using tools to assist me with my work. Last week I purchased iA Writer and spent many hours working with it to see whether or not it could be a useful tool for me. It was very impressive and I was excited about it’s abilities and potential. It exceeded my expectations and provided important assistance. I had already started thinking of ways it could improve the work of my entire team. Tonight I opened iA Writer to review some important notes that I had made for tomorrow and all of my folders were empty, all of my files were gone. Please help ASAP.
  • A fusion of elegance and simplicity

As a journalist whose main task is to write stories, I found that this app is amazing and inspiring for writing. i would only love to see more options such as to make the font bolder. Also, I would love to see a discount on the mac version as it’s 19 USD for windows and 29 for mac. So be nicer than that for the mac users 😅
  • Good, needs better cloud integration (onedrive, etc), tags support, and TOC sidebar

    By dimitarsp
I tried pretty much all note taking and writing apps available, and I have finally decided to use IA writer. However, i am keeping my notes and writing system as platform agnostic as possible. So, at the moment, I am storing files in OneDrive. Going through the app to get to the location where my note files are stored is a major UI bottleneck. There should be a way to bookmark a location so I can easily add new files in the given location, and search all files and sub files. There are two other features that will make this the absolute best note taking and writing app: - tags. There should be an easy way to add tags and to search through the tags available in the documents in the chosen location. - Table of contents. I know that it’s possible to use {{TOC}} tag to display table of contents, but another app - MWeb goes a step further and shows the Table of contents in the sidebar. Having this feature in this app would further improve the workflow of writing beautifully and in a much more organized manner.
  • Where is the advertised WordPress functionality?...

    By sbenja13
“...Easy Blogging...Publish drafts directly to WordPress...” That is what’s written under the last app description image. iA Writer does not publish anything to WordPress. It launches WordPress’s web browser based editor, and I then have to continue there, including publishing posts. Blogging is definitely not easy without actual WordPress functionality in iA Writer like opening an existing WordPress post draft to edit it, for example. Could I, please, get a refund?
  • This is a text editor, not a writing app

    By @zachburnham
This is just a text editor, not a writing app - it only imagines that you care about one file at a time. A writing app would let you structure and organize files, and knows that each file is just one part of your work. This remembers recent files at best, and doesn't seem to let you organize files beyond that.
