I passed the cissp exam today thanks in part to pocket prep. Each question makes a reference to the official exam guide from sybex, I found this to be extremely helpful!!!

The content is here to keep your mind in the material on the go. Overall, though the engineering is subpar. The app crashes nearly every time I try to use it on the iPad and my iPhone X. My progress was completely wiped out on the phone and more crashes. Nobody who built this app read the CISSP sections on change management when the updates were released.
  • Keeps Locking

I paid extra to unlock all questions. However the app is keep locking up, it isn’t showing me options to choose exam topics, matter of fact it’s blank. If I hit next, it keeps telling I must chose a knowledge section but there is nothing to select. I like the app but it’s not valuable if I can’t even select. It takes me like 6 tries of closing and opening the app. I updated the latest update and still. So frustrating!!!
  • Not bad questions but buggy

There’s a lot of good questions on this app but there are a lot of bugs that make the app crash

App helps prep you for the exam. Not an exam dump, which would be against the (ISC)2 code of ethics, but a good representation of the types of questions in the exam.

Because otherwise you’ll lose your progress.
  • Lags

Love the test bank but very buggy and lags a lot. More times than not the app shuts down and then when I reopen it I have to log back in for it to only freeze again and then shut down..
  • Convenient way to study

Most realistic study tool I’ve come across yet. I can study while I’m watching my kid, on breaks at work, on the toilet, etc. Questions are based on the official Sybex book which is perfect.
  • Not a one stop shop

Don’t rely on this to get you to a certification passing score but it will help you reinforce the material.
  • dev needs to read crash logs and fix threading

All versions of the PocketPrep apps display the same problems. Frequent hangs/freezes, crashes, and lost data. Reading the device/app logs (by connecting device to Xcode) shows most of the problems are due to poor thread management. Long activities on the main thread being system halted after timeout is exceeded, or threads trying to dispatch work to themselves. This is sloppy coding. And, it’s obvious they reuse the same code across all of their apps. If I put my device in airplane mode, these apps do behave better... further confirming most of the freeze/crash occurrences are within the thread management of network calls and SQLite data updates (which is clearly indicated in the crash logs). I contacted PocketPrep directly about data loss from app crashes, provided details, got an automated reply, followed by absolutely no response from them. As much as I like the idea of these apps and the progress tracking features, it’s nearly addictive when it works, the reality is these apps aren’t stable and the metrics data is gibberish. In hindsight I should have spent the money purchasing additional books and avoided these apps like the plague that they are.
