  • Love DCL but the app needs work

I just returned from a 9 night cruise, my 4th one with DCL and this app. Recent improvements have improved the app but it still needs work. I was still heavily using the daily paper navigator due to many of these issues (which incidentally you have to go get now, no longer delivered to you...apparently they want to save paper to give you more flyers on shopping and DVC. I’d rather have the navigator and opt out of that stuff that goes straight in recycling) 1) it has a great feature where you can favorite things you want to do and then see them in your personal itinerary. Nice, but when the system glitches out and you have to re-identify yourself you then lose ALL favorites you’ve marked for the whole cruise. Happened 2 times on my cruise. Very frustrating. 2) the search ability is very flawed. It currently allows you to search by “theme” and some appear to be nicely aligned to themes on the paper navigator...but they are not. For example, if my son is 13 and only eligible for the activities in Edge, he can select “tween age 11-14” hoping to just look at Edge activities. BUT because Oceaneers club ends at age 12 and Vibe starts at 14, “Tween” actually pulls back ALL OCEANEER,Edge, Vibe and “all age” activities. So essentially it isn’t a filter at all. Why not just label it “Edge” and only display Edge activities? Likewise if I want 18+ activities, picking that tag doesn’t just pull that section of the activities it also pulls in the “all ages” ones. Clean that up to search stuff that aligns with those categories only and maybe allow picking multiple tags for people that want cluttered search results. 3). Search is flawed part two... this app needs keyword search. Badly. The best example I can give is that on this recent Alaska cruise I wanted to go to all of the nature programs (which were awesome by the way), but if not for the paper navigator, I likely never would have found them if I hadn’t know to expect they had to be there somewhere. There should be a way to search “nature” and pull them all back. Likewise, a search for “trivia” or “games” as examples of things I often just wanted to find in the sea of activities. My kids would add “wii challenge”. Another example is that my son and I always watch Moana on every cruise. Since the wonder doesn’t have on demand movies like the other ships, it would have been nice to search “moana” rather than what we did, which was search each individual day’s movie schedule (spoiler alert, it was on day 9 so we had to search ALL of them). 4) needs breadcrumbs. Often you get into an activity to read more, or into a menu to read more and there is no “back” to return to the same spot. Not horrible if you were looking at, say, activities for 1pm and it was 1pm, but if you were looking at 9pm, it goes back to 1pm and you have to re-scroll. 5) what is with the app constantly moving your view? Its very frustrating to be looking at activities for after dinner and have the app constantly scrolling you back to the time you are at now. Just leave it where I have it when I am actively looking at it! And if those are all because the content is updated, how often are you refreshing content because the forced return to the current time happens ALL THE TIME. 6) this one isn’t an issue but a suggestion. It would be really cool if you could share an activity to your party’s favorites. For example if everyone is going to a movie together, push it to your kids’ favorites so they will get the reminder. This would be so so so helpful!

The only problem is having to loose those pounds we gained from eating all the great food.! Great trip to Alaska and great entertainment along with great service. Well worth the money.

We love this app during our cruise because keep us updated about each activity. To me still is too slow the messaging option.

It was my wife, 12 and 13 year old boys. We’ve been on other cruise lines but it didn’t compare to this one. Basically you get what you pay for. Quick tip, take only shorts and sandals, leave everything else at home.

We cruise Disney only... loved every cruise... like this one a bit less as my husband fell on the gangway and could not enjoy our family scheduled excursion. Secondly the excursion yesterday to butterfly garden and butchart gardens was HORRIFIC! Screaming kids all the way there and back and barely time to walk in the front and had to leave. Also we had to pay for an adult ticket for my 13 yr old but could not go on adult only tour??!!! Ridiculous rules when we paid adult ticket per your requirements but had a second terrible day. Kumar at port adventure no help at all... excuses. And the food was definitely not Disney quality on past cruises... over cooked meat you could bounce off the wall. Definitely will be writing more reviews about this not so great cruise....

We had an amazing time on the Disney Dream!! The Navigator was so easy to use. The daily activities and times listed made daily planning extremely easy. Texting family members was so helpful, especially when texting our kids. The staff and crew went above and beyond to make our stay magical! The shows were fabulous!!! The food was delicious!!! Our waiter Constantine was great and so attentive to us. This is our third cruise and we can’t wait to plan our next voyage with Disney!!!! Thank you for a wonderful vacation that we will never forget and for memories that will last a lifetime!!!

The only reason I’m giving this cruise two stars is because of the staff. The people worked like crazy, they were awesome. So at first we were leaving port canverarl and we were doing fine, until about day 2. They said the ship was moving about 9 knots. So we were going to be another day at sea and we were going to skip Jamaica. They apologized for any of the disconvenience this may have caused, and they were giving 20% off of future cruises. And only $200 for all staterooms. Only 200? So we got to Cozumel and we did our exersion. That was the only thing we did out of 5 exersions booked. We were supposed to snorkel in grand cayman, but the boat that was supposed to take us out was having mechanical problems, like there wasn’t 50 other boats taking people snorkeling, with plenty of room. We were supposed to do the glass bottom boat but the cruise was leaving at 4:30 instead of 5:30 and our glass bottom boat was cutting it close, so we canceled that one, I’ll admit this one was out fault. Then we got to castaway cay and it was raining for about 30 minutes. The rain ended around 10:30 and our exersion wasn’t til 12:45. But then my phone told me that our banana bout has been canceled. So we payed 14k for this cruise and only did about 20% of it. And they give us 20% off of FUTURE cruises in stead of this one. Very disappointing.
