I’ve used Rosetta, Duo Lingo, and Memrise. Memrise is the most effective and gets you there faster. I’m not even bringing cost into the equation. It’s simply better. The fact that it’s so much less expensive than the more well-known Rosetta is simply a Bonus. DuoLingo is good, but I prefer Memrise.

Twelve-year-expat~ Four languages in~ Tried maybe 60 different apps and methods~ Memrise is like drinking language! Absolutely the most effective I’ve found (currently working my way through Mandarin Chinese). Love it! On a comic note~ I’m still wishing for the wonderfully animated garden from when Memrise was in beta to come back!! Would love that!! But still loving on the program! Thanks for it! More animated gif files for Chinese-morphing please~ Happy day!

I think that Memerise is a very helpful app. I will be taking French next year in school and I will be learning basic vocabulary, which is what this app includes unlike Duolingo. I like the fact that this app teaches you not only basic vocabulary (without paying) but it teaches you grammar which is a main reason why this app is better than Duolingo. I only had one complication with this app. I got far enough into using this app where I discovered the grammar bot section. It was going very smoothly until I couldn’t get past it because the app either kept crashing or it would just take me back to the review vocabulary section. I’m not sure if this is a common error in the app or if it is just a problem with my device. Other than that little difficulty, I think this is a wonderful app and it is very easy to understand. Hats off to the creators!

I wanted to learn Korean because I saw a kpop boy band named BTS or Bangtan boys and I started listening to their music and it was really good but some things they would say in Korean so I found this app and it is amazing.

i love this app! it’s helped me a lot more than duolingo had with my chinese.(even though i’m stuck on the ‘launchpad’ thing. and that’s really the only flaw; because after you finish the launchpad level thingy it requires you to pay to continue. now, i get it; i wouldn’t want adds on this amazing app either, and there’s gotta be a way to support memrise. there’s just a bunch of people who have no money, and whose parents sure as hell aren’t gonna pay for that stuff either. but that’s about it, really. on the time i’ve spent on memrise i like it a lot. a great way to learn beginnings of a language before taking classes in school for it!

This app has a phenomenal Louisiana Creole (Kouri-Vini) course and I’m so happy to have it so I can refresh myself on my native language.

this app is so great, until you realize how much it costs annually. You can't move on unless you pay for it, will probably delete and find a better app instead!

I am learning Japanese and I use this app to help me, the problem is I wish I could practice the lessons I already did but that isn’t an option because they make you go to the next lesson and there isn’t a practice button
