This app does just about everything. You can import photos, take photos, add web links, manually type notes, etc. very easy and smooth. The categories are basic and you can make your own as re are two ways to view your recipes in a list format or a icon format. Customer service is friendly and good. You actually interact with a real person with a personality!! Wow. Creating a recipe file online takes time so I add recipes just every time I cook a new recipe or an old favorite. So slowly step by step. Works well and has a great touch n feel user interface.

Hopes the web capture would find the recipe text and plug it in, not taking a screen capture of my phone screen. Not a helpful feature.

I am in heaven with this app! I know a lot of folks said they had problems using the websites, but i just copy the ingredients and add as one note, then do the same with the directions (no need to worry about importing, linking, bookmarking, etc!). For the picture, I just take a quick screenshot to use, then after I change the pic to that I just delete the screenshot to keep my library from filling up.

This is everything I want in an app to put all my recipes in one place. However, I wish there was a way to backup, such as an email backup. I have a large collection of recipes and would not be happy if I were to lose them.
  • Only 100 bookmarks??

I was not aware that there was a limit on bookmarking. I was transferring recipes from my note page to the app so I could then save on the recipe page. I must have bookmarked (at least I thought I did anyway) 150 recipes. When I checked the app to make sure one of the recipes transferred, a warning popped up and said I was about to exceed 100 and old bookmarks will delete. Well...needless to say I lost about 50 recipes and some of the recipes that are on the recipe page are now gone. The limit of bookmarks should be included in the description of the app. It’s a bit deceiving. Especially when it states that we can leave as many notes as we want. Please fix.

Look, I HATE buying apps. I always figure a free one is just as good. But after reading the reviews and the description, I bit the bullet and splurged (way less than a Starbucks latte). Best money I ever spent in the kitchen. I have been adding my hand written recipes in at the clip of about one every 45 seconds. Title…category…point….click…crop…done! (the long pole in the tent is focusing my camera on my iPad!) Here’s the backstory, by the way. We lost our house in a Colorado wildfire about 2 1/2 years ago. Losing everything is amazing painful, but it was little things that really hurt. After we found a temporary place to live, we realized that we had lost all of our favorite recipes…including one-of-a-kind handwritten by grandma. Irreplaceable. Since then, we have been rebuilding the collection (slowly) and always felt the need to have e-copies. But typing recipes is a considerable pain. Along comes Recipe Gallery, and the process is ridiculously easy! Since you take a photo, you can preserve Grandma’s own handwriting (assuming it hasn’t become ashes along with every other non-living thing you held dear) in a categorized format that takes up almost no cabinet and counter space. One more thing (if you’re still reading this). I downloaded the app to my iPad. When I realized it worked so darned well, I wanted to install it on a different iPad dedicated to kitchen use. I couldn't figure out how to do this (please, don’t beat me up—it was really simple but I was missing the step). So I wrote a question to the app developer. In less than 10 minutes (no kidding), Mike wrote back and explained that I needed to just log into my Apple account on the new iPad (as of course every other marginally intelligent guy on the planet could have told me). He was prompt, though and gracious. I thanked him and the asked if it was also possible to import recipes from a pdf. Again, Mike wrote immediately back and said he was working on that very addition this week, with a new release due out next month. In the meantime, he also linked me to another app which will convert pdfs to jpegs which are easily imported into the current version of Gallery. Talk about customer service. I am sold, and embarrassed that I paid so little for such a great app. Do yourself a favor and try it out as well.
