Slow to update. And being new to this app, unclear how to use it. Soured me to Disney. Will work well for Disney devotees that understand the complicated system.
  • The worst Disney day ever

Sorry to say it but it’s true. We love Disney World, that’s why we keep coming back. Last time here was not quite 2 years ago so some things have changed which we expected. What we didn’t expect was the dramatic change in guest service - not across the board but enough to have made a significant impact on what should have been a happy day. Since our on-property package does not begin til tomorrow, we made certain in advance that we could activate our passes a day early. When we arrived at Epcot, a gate supervisor told us we had to go to Guest Relations to have our wrist bands activated. When we got there, about 20 people were ahead of us with what appeared to be only one window open. After 15 minutes in line with no movement whatsoever, I called the Disney Experience Cast Member who had - very graciously - helped us in booking our reservation. He was unavailable so I waited for the next available person who, when she took my call, continually told me she couldn’t help me. I asked to speak to her supervisor & was put on hold. Meantime, my husband saw a Cast Member walking past the Guest Relations line, got his attention & asked if he could somehow help. He had nothing to do with Guest Relations but in proper Disney fashion, said he’d see what he could do. Now we’ve been in the Guest Relations line for over 20 minutes with still no movement at all and several more people have lined up behind us. And I’m still in hold waiting for a supervisor. So now the non-Guest Relations person comes back to my husband and tells him that we can get our wrist bands activated at any ticket purchase window, of which there are quite a few. After thanking him profusely, we move back over to the area we started in 30 minutes ago and get the great good fortune to find Courtney, who, while she doesn’t know how to activate our wrist bands, knows who to call and what questions to ask. And I’m still on hold for the supervisor (about 15 minutes by now). Courtney’s efforts take another 20 minutes but she got us taken care of. With our wrist bands activated, I gave up on the supervisor ever coming on the phone (by the way, the Cast Member who put me on hold never came back on the line) & I hung up. (If you’re keeping track, that’s 35-40 minutes. On hold. For a supervisor.) I also stopped by the gate and advised the gate supervisor who had sent me to Guest Relations originally that he might have suggested the ticket office alternative ... and he chose to make excuses. In rather an argumentative way. Very unMouselike. So after an HOUR of just trying to get into Epcot, we ran into several Cast Members who were absolutely clueless about things they should have known: Food & Wine booth staff who didn’t know basic F&W info; store employees who had no idea what The Mickey Mouse Club even was, let alone whether their store had the merchandise. Of course, we encountered many excellent Cast Members, all of whom were helpful, cheerful and Disneylike to the core. Several of the young women at the various China venues seemed to not enjoy their jobs very much, but others were lovely. Overall, though, we were so put off and irritated by the poor treatment at the beginning, which breaks a cardinal Disney rule (make the beginning and the end HAPPY), we can’t rate this day a success.

The Disney mobile app needs some major work. Our whole trip all I have heard is the app is going through some magical enhancements. These enhancements have been a major inconvenience during our trip.

For an company with so much money and talent. This app should be amazing. I understand building something for so many people isn’t wary but it’s been done and this should be so much better. Disney please fix this.
