This is a great app, but due to restrictions for me it is not usable. The customer service and response is the best I have experienced with any app. I purchased the premium membership to use the app to track wagers. The app will let you set the handicap for guests but not your individual handicap. While I understand it tracks and keeps an accurate handicap, I play in several groups/clubs that will only use the club play for club handicap. While I record all my rounds my actual handicap may not be the same as a particular club I am playing with albeit higher or lower. Because there is no way for me to adjust my handicap for wager tracking only while playing a club match, I am unable to use the app. Follow-Up: As mentioned the customer service is fabulous, and they are very responsive, they even followed up on my review. The suggestion to change the slope of the course in the app does not address the issue at hand. While it will adjust my handicap artificially for that round, it would also adjust all the other players in the contest. So the issue remains. Additionally if the slope is adjusted wouldn’t that incorrectly record that round for handicap record purposes. It would be ideal if the app allowed for a “gaming” handicap edit. I have several other apps that allow an “edit” of any individual handicap for the bet tracking portion. Thanks for the follow-up.

Excellent app. Easy to use. The only thing that I wish is that there’s a 5-man option.

Tracking scores is pretty easy, I like that for sure. I am a more casual golfer but golf four days a week all summer long, I just don’t really focus on my score. That being said, I am trying to get a better idea for my distance with each club and having a hard time with this app. It seems to work pretty well on my phone, and the distance is right a lot of times on my watch. Sometimes though it will “wake up” on my watch and the distance is at least 50yds off! I will ask a buddy that has his handheld and it matches my app 8 out of 10 times. It’s those two times where it is at least 2 clubs off. If I could run this app from my watch independently from my phone and have it give me accurate distances from the watch itself, not my phone, I would pay almost any amount of money. I could buy another device but with all the crap I carry on the course now, I really don't want a different gps. I need this to work!! Please let me know when it can be truly independent and a little more consistent. I think it is so close to being great!

First and foremost, the unique feature about this app is that it allows the “common folk” to actually have an a venue to obtain and track your handicap for FREE! Normally this is reserved for the country club crew or the serious hackers who want to pay a fee to get a GHIN number etc. The Grint has an “online membership” with a local person running/heading each local group thus allowing you to track and obtain a handicap. That’s worth the app in itself for me, but the Grint also lets you put in a few tidbits of information and spits out some great data and analytics for you to pick apart your game on the 19th. It’s not overly obtrusive and is pretty well designed to allow someone familiar with their app to complete the round in about the same time as someone not keeping score much less amassing other valuable information should you chose to study and use it to improve your game off the course. There are some things that it is lacking yes, but what Golf app out there is free and does it all? The good thing about the Grint that I also enjoy is the fact that they are using beta users to test upcoming versions, take suggestions/criticisms, and hopefully implement what the people are wanting to see the app turn into (ie they seem involved, enthusiastic, and dedicated to continual self-improvement). And did I mention it’s free? I went ahead and paid for the upgraded membership and I think the nominal annual fee is worth the extra stats/analytics that come with the cost. I hope they eventually incorporate ways for us to make notes that are saved for a hole so I can remember next time I play maybe that usual 8 iron continually just lands short, or to remind me without a left sided fairway shot going for green would be heroic, or that if you miss the green you better be right etc. There is also the occasional hole where the hole location is set wrong and there seems to not really be a great way to fix this type of error. Lastly, you get good information about your tee shot, but if I was so inclined I would like to have better metrics on my approach shot/short game from 150 in. Remembering my Club lengths and then suggesting the correct Club based on the GPS distance would be nice. Having some way to track your shots without carrying your phone and manually hitting start/stop tracking would be nice as well. And if I started tracking a shot but mishit the shot, there should be a way to simply cancel shot tracker so it doesn’t say Figure in an 80 yard duff into my running and learning average 8-iron distance. I’d like to know if I was in the right rough off the tee then say overcompensated and ended up just left of the green or if my wedge distance consistency is treading toward more consistent while I’m changing my swing and improving my overall contact on the ball. It would also be nice the have an easier way to take and attach a photo that will then automatically tag it to the specific hole I was on when it took the photo (with my approval of the correct hole). A lot of times I take photos with my camera app on my iPhone then forget what hole number to tag that photo to. Now that I get pretty robust stats for my game, get a running updated handicap for free, and get a pretty easy UI app that doesn’t require obtrusive amounts of information that affects my round I’ve basically moved my golfing app usage solely to the Grint. The Golfshot app lays dormant in the depths of some unused folder. Give it a try for a 5 rounds, what’s there to lose besides a few stokes?

I use this app every time I play golf. Now that I have an Apple Watch this app is even better. GPS on every course, keeps record of all scores, keeps your handicap, and keeps track of where to improve your game. I’m a USGA chairman for this app in my club/area. Everything is done by the books when it comes to USGA handicaps. The email response from the devs is amazing, they always get back to you. If you are looking for a free/useful/easy app for golf.....this is it. THIS IS YOUR APP.

I love the Grint app on my phone. However on the watch, it constantly crashes. I’ve only gotten it to work twice and that’s after a couple holes in and I’ve deleted it and reinstalled it. It’s very frustrating and takes me off the course. If it can be solve then this app will get 5 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟
