I got this app a few years ago after switching phones and finding my old app wasn’t available on the new phone. I even shelled out the $5 for the full version, but today when I go to start jotting down a new idea, I find out that my money went to waste and I now have to shell out for a freaking membership? This app is not worth $50 bucks a year, so I am officially requesting my money back and transferring all of my works elsewhere while I look for a new app. Take note, developers. This isn’t how you treat customers
  • Nice concept?

It’s very well organized and makes writing on the go pretty easy, but this app kept deleting what I’ve written. I would write a few paragraphs, but when I scroll up it had deleted previous paragraphs. Super frustrating.
  • Why must I sync my data on YOUR server?

So in the age of Drop Box and iCloud syncing being near universally available, this app wants to store my writing data on the developer's server. Is it secure? Will it be shared? Why do you need my data? What do you care what I write, the content of my texts?? Are we already in an Orwellian age when we simply hand over our thoughts and ideas just so you can provide "syncing" service? I will gladly pay you for your hard work in developing this app--nay, I want to pay you ! --but seriously, WHY DO YOU NEED MY PERSONAL WRITING DATA stored on your server and not on iCloud or Drop Box?

I absolutely love this app! Before using this, I was just writing in notes on my iPhone. This is much more share friendly and I’ve been enjoying writing and keep track of my writings.
  • A little overpriced

I love Werdsmith. It’s a great app... but I really am restricted by the lack of capability it has unless you pay for the monthly subscription. And I just feel like it would be a lot better if you could make a one time payment for the app instead of such high monthly payments... $1-2 a month wouldn’t be so bad, but five is a little out there for most people I think. Or if it was a one time payment, it could be $5-10. I dunno. Either of those options would make it more worth it to me. Still useable with the free version, though.

Has a writing limit that you have to pay to bypass.

I really enjoy this app! Being easily available on the go, I find myself using it in everyday places, whether it’s just a few sentences here and there as I’m waiting for an appointment or on my break at work - which, to be honest was partly my motivation to try to write and publish a book - or just at home in my downtime, when I can focus on it for longer periods of time. I’ll admit I went ahead and got the subscription and I honestly can’t say that I regret it. But even so, I have to agree with comments others have made about crashing after the words reach a certain length. There was a time when I wasn’t even able to get into my pages. But after contacting the company, the problematic issues were resolved. However, not wanting the same issues to arise again (it’s better to play it safe, isn’t it?) I’ve decided to create my book separated by chapter instead of writing all the way through. This also helps me keep it organized - probably the same idea as “folders” that I’d read about in some comments - chapter by chapter, and so far I’ve had no problems doing it that way. All in all, I have no issues with this app. I don’t like that the arrow was taken away with the last update which scrolled quickly down to where you left off at the bottom, and now I have to do it manually. But that’s not anything major, it was just helpful is all. I also wish the word count was better. How much I wrote for “just today”, as opposed to how much I’ve written all-time. I know that it DOES have a word count at the bottom of the page, but once I close it out and start a new chapter, it starts over. (Again, not a major problem, I just think it would be nice to see better track of the progress I make.) I highly recommend this app to anyone who loves to write, especially those who wish to take their writing to the next level! I’ve yet to finish my book (I’m my own worst critic and have actually deleted my book several times! But I am happy with the current version I am working on) but I think this app makes it easy to focus on the work without distractions.

This is a good app that I have been using since I first heard about it. I only wish it had a search feature to search on individual lists or books put on it. Other than that it is a very good book writing app.
  • Crashes incessantly.

It's good, but it crashes a lot. Needs some optimization. I haven't been able to figure out the source of the crashes, but I do know that it possibly happens more often on documents that are formatted (using werdsmith's bold / italics functions) or exceed a 40,000 word count. The crashes sometimes erase large sections of work I had done. Tedious but it is a good app otherwise. EDIT 2/16/17: I’ve been a fan of this app for several months now. But just recently it has begun crashing so much, and randomly deleting huge chunks of process (2,000 words and counting!) that I simply just can’t use it anymore. It was good while it lasted, but few if any updates have solved or addressed this major problem, and it is no longer useful to keep using this app.
