  • Won’t sync with CarPlay

Why is it so hard to sync this app with CarPlay? Other music app syncs seamlessly but this app is very hit or miss...more miss than hit.

This used to be my number one go to music player app. Out of the blue, (no updates, no downloads, no nothing), whenever I launch a station now, the app crashes. Go figure. Goodbye TuneIn radio. Hello Pandora. UPDATE JUNE 2018: Still using v11 on my phone. V14 doesn't let you see the remaining time on the sleep timer like v11 does. Please bring that feature back. UPDATE AUGUST 2018: I'm bumping my rating back to 3 stars but still desire the countdown timer to show time remaining when sleep timer is set. V11 is still on my iPhone and still shows that. Come on coders, it can't be that hard to fix. We don't need to see the Zzzz's. UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2018: 14.7 released. Still have not addressed my biggest beef above about the number of minutes remaining on the sleep timer. UPDATE OCTOBER 2018: 14.8 released. Still showing the Zzzzz’s rather than the minutes remaining in the sleep timer. UPDATE NOVEMBER 2018: v15.0 released. Still showing the Zzzzz’s rather than the minutes remaining in the sleep timer. Updates aren’t always improvements for users. UPDATE DECEMBER 2018: v15.2 released. Still showing the Zzzzz’s rather than the minutes remaining in the sleep timer. UPDATE FEBRUARY 2019: v15.4 released. Still no fix. Showing the Zzzzz’s rather than the minutes remaining in the sleep timer. UPDATE FEBRUARY 2019: v15.5 released. Still no fix. Same comment as above. UPDATE MARCH 2019: v15.8 released. Sleep Timer still showing Zzzzz’s and not the remaining time on the timer. So sad. One thing is becoming clear. Developers must not read reviews. UPDATE APRIL 2019: v15.8.3 released. No fix. Sleep Timer still showing Zzzzz’s and not the remaining time on the timer. UPDATE JUNE 2019: v16.2 and 16.3 released. Ditto my update from April. Still no fix.

A subscription service that is trying to screw you over from day one. Successful companies do not need to lock interested customers into wildly unfair contracts and then hide behind Google policies.

  • Don't bother with TuneIn Pro! Don’t waste your money!

I originally thought I'd try TuneIn Pro at the end of the regular baseball season. I wanted to listen to my Chicago Cubs on the hometown radio station. I got the TuneIn Radio app, which immediately wanted me to sign up for a "free trial" of TuneIn Pro before I could even try the app at all. Not a good way to begin. Instead, let me listen a bit, show me the content I'm missing out on because I don't have Pro, then let me sign up. Business 101. Don't try to upsell me until you've proven the value of the product. Okay, so I went through the mandatory signup for Pro. I went to the Chicago Cubs radio station. I listened to the pregame show on the station. Suddenly, without any warning, I was listening to ESPN or CBS sports radio. I had to "leave" that station, and tune in to the "Chicago Cubs" playoff station to continue listening to the Cubs. Guys, I understand that you are restricting the Cubs broadcast to Pro subscribers. But you already know I am one, and if I am on that station, it is presumably because I want to listen to the game that would be on that station, were I in receiving distance of it. Since the app knows I am a Pro subscriber, it's okay to "switch" me over to the premium stream for the duration of the game. Really. After all, that's why I signed up for Pro. But that's not the end of TuneIn Pro's woes. Occasionally, they lose the stream. This happens on the net. However, when you are streaming live sports, don't spend thirty or forty seconds buffering thirty or forty seconds ahead. Sure, the stream EVENTUALLY picks up right where it left off. But now, instead of being within a few seconds of real time, I am forty or more seconds behind. For a music broadcast, perhaps that is the right behavior, but for live sports, buffering is a giant mistake. I'd rather miss three to five seconds of audio, but stay current, than to eventually hear every word of the broadcast, but wind up being seriously behind real time. Basically every time it starts to buffer, I stop the stream, wait several seconds, then start it again, because TuneIn Pro doesn't get the importance of listening to sports as close to live as possible. But most egregiously, during a crucial inning and a half during game five of the World Series, they lost the stream completely. It took over half an hour before anyone even appeared to notice. When they did, we got another half hour of "There is a problem with the stream, and we are working to fix it," over and over and over. Finally they gave us ESPN radio. NOT a substitute. If I'd wanted ESPN radio, I'd tune it in locally, rather than paying for TuneIn Pro. And again, during Derek Foster's leadoff homer during game seven of the World Series, the connection dropped. When I tried to reconnect, I got told, "That stream is not available right now, try again later." Seriously? I was wondering whether I'd keep my TuneIn Pro subscription after the Cubs were done in the playoffs. Watching the continued inability to deliver what I was paying for, I just don't see why I should keep paying my money. Maybe if they get a clue, I'll reconsider, but I'm not hopeful. I wish I could give them zero stars. P.S. two years later, I’ve kept my subscription so far, but their service has gotten worse, not better. Run, don’t walk, away from this pile of garbage!
  • Buffering or not pulling up the game

I’ve updated the app and restarted my phone and still getting issues with buffering or not connecting. Never had an issue until the last week. So what is the problem. Fix this app trying to listen to my game.
  • Good music choice

Allows you to get a huge variety of music. The only problem is you use a lot of advertising to annoy listeners to the point of purchasing a monthly subscription or leave the app totally because it’s so annoying. I am almost to the point of leaving.

This was a great app and might be in the future, but recently it starts playing at random without any input after the app is closed. Not cool. Fix it please.
