NOAA Weather Alerts App Description

A simple yet powerful app that combines science with simplicity so you can be notified of real-time severe weather warnings that affect your locations. NOAA Weather Alerts has been updated for iOS 10 and beyond. With this major update comes a sleek new design, new alerts, and new weather radar. NOAA Weather Alerts sends you storm-based (or polygon) alerts via push notification so you can be notified of real-time severe weather warnings that affect your locations. Storm-based (or polygon) alerts help reduce false alarms from county-based alerts by alerting you to severe weather based on your exact location within a county. Why is that important? Because county-based alerts warn you even if your location in the county is not within the threatened area, effectively giving you a false alarm. Receive storm-based push notifications for 45 different types that focus on the most Severe Weather Warnings. View alerts on the weather map to see severe weather warning boxes where dangerous weather is happening. Tap the alert to view its info. • Tornadoes and Thunderstorm watches and warnings • Flood watches and warnings • Hurricane and Tropical Storm forecast tracks • Hurricane and Tropical Storm watches and warnings • Storm Tracks with detailed storm information (requires Future Weather in-app subscription) • Winter storm watches and warnings • Marine and coastal alerts New Layers on the weather map let you see recent weather activity from the last 6 to 12 hours. • Radar • Clouds • Clouds & Radar together • Wind Speed • Snow Cover • Temperatures • Water Temperatures • Road Weather • Earthquakes • Future Weather (in-app purchase subscription required) • Lightning Alerts and notifications (in-app purchase subscription required) Enhance your app with a Future Weather auto-renewing subscription for purchase within the app for $0.99/month. Future Weather lets you see: • Radar up to 6 hours in the future • Storm Tracks, that let you see how fast storms are moving and where they're headed • Temperature Forecast map up to 12 hours in the future Enhance your app with a Lightning Strikes auto-renewing subscription for purchase within the app for $0.99/month. Lightning lets you: • See lightning strikes on the map within 150 miles of a selected location • Receive lightning strike push notifications for your locations Please note the following about Future Weather's and Lightning's auto-renewing subscriptions: • Payment will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase • Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period • Account will be charged for renewal within 24-hours prior to the end of the current period, and identify the cost of the renewal • Subscriptions may be managed by the user and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase • No cancellation of the current subscription is allowed during active subscription period • Privacy Policy: http://www.weathersphere.com/privacy/ • Terms of Use: http://www.weathersphere.com/terms/ • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that publication, where applicable Additional features include: • Install and go, no complex setup. • Select opacity of radar images for your preference. • Near real-time, shows the latest radar images within minutes of being gathered. • Sharp radar images even on retina displays that show the latest radar images within minutes. • Get detailed and trustworthy forecasts for all your locations. • Check the current weather and forecast for any point on the map. • Bookmark multiple locations easy access to your favorite places. • Current conditions, hourly and five-day forecasts alongside detailed weather information, including pressure readings for all your locations. Note: Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

  • Used to work. Now no push notifications

I relied on this app for a couple of years. Like most disappointed users, this isn’t an app that’s filed in the “games” category. My family relies on these alerts as a matter of life and death. It seems like the developer doesn’t have the same urgency as I do to keep my family safe. Looking for something that’s more than 25% reliable.
  • Basically Over It...

...and really I only have this map for one reason... future radar. BUT IT DOES NOT KNOW WHERE I LIVE! I got a friend’s house close to me to show up kind of accurately, I go by that but it’s still the wrong city. I had gotten spoiled by the weather app I had prior to this one and the developers must have let it go. It literally sent notifications when the rain was within an certain amount of time of reaching you... and keeping you updated. It showed thunder strikes too. You could see the future radar, the forecast was actually the most accurate and it had, like all of my other radar apps, the search and save contacts option that showed up as any icon you could choose to put on your map... it was awesome! I would’ve easily paid a couple bucks a month for it. I keep this one because it has the cleanest map and “future radar.” But it has no idea where locations are when I look them up. Although it did accurately pinpoint the garage sale I was just at... but I can’t seem to accurately look up a City or Zip code. This one wants an extra buck a month for lighting strikes... that’s free on my local news map. Again, I only have this map for one reason... future radar. AND IT DOES NOT KNOW WHERE I LIVE!

His used to be a good app with accurate weather alerts, and now it simply doesn’t work. It’s worthless.

Don’t waste your money on this app! You used to be able to customize your alerts and set multiple locations! Now all you get is a stupid radar!
  • DO NOT BUY!!!

I bought this because I knew we were going to have severe weather today. It does absolutely nothing!! It showed me a map of the US. That’s it! It didn’t even show me the rain or severe weather right over me, let alone the tornado watch we were in. I’m so disappointed and I want my money back!! I had it all of 12 hrs and it never did anything. I’m so mad!!
  • Doesn't send updates

I used to depend on this app. Especially during the spring. It still has very good info but since the update it now longer sends notifications. Very disappointing
  • Bad Update

Hate the update. You used to be able to choose alert distance and which severe weather you got alerted for. Now it’s just a poor run of the mill weather app.
  • Utterly useless

Not reliable. Just experienced a tornado warning at my locale. App showed no alerts. 20 minutes later I swiped down and 2 alerts appeared! Aghghhhh..... I’m dead!
