Tactical NAV App Description

Tactical NAV was created by a U.S. Army field artillery officer who was deployed to Afghanistan with the 101st Airborne Division. While deployed, he saw a need for an MGRS-focused smartphone application that every Soldier and service-member in the world could utilize -- something the Department of Defense wasn't taking advantage of despite their massive budget. The original intent behind the app was to create a low-cost, accurate, and effective mobile navigational solution for military service-members that was built for accuracy. It allows users to pinpoint their location with precision accuracy, and acquire an MGRS/UTM/BNG/LAT-LONG coordinate to any location, anywhere in the world. Its performance is on par with the AN/PSN 13 Defense Advanced GPS Receiver (DAGR) and has been tested and used in combat. It has also been evaluated against other software systems the DOD uses such as CPOF, BFT, and other targeting solutions the Pentagon utilizes for target acquisition. FEATURES: - Military quality GPS tactical navigation system - WGS 84 standard and includes MGRS, UTM, BNG and USNG - Sandtable drawing mode (In app purchase) - Tested in combat to ensure utmost accuracy and reliability - 1:50,000 map scale overlay (1km by 1km grid squares) - Waypoint plotting functionality with military graphics - Location and waypoint sharing via email, text and Facebook with other users - Compass “FastLock” function for capturing quick azimuths - Quickly swipe between various types of coordinate and location data - Camera mode with data displayed in real-time and photo stamping capability - One-button night mode function for low-light situations - "Go to Grid" option for pinpoint planning and drawing of overlays - And much more!!! MEDIA COVERAGE: Featured in the Army Times, BBC, CNN, CBS News, FOXNEWS, MSNBC, the DailyMail, the NY Times, and many more! =================== Bottom line, Tactical NAV puts the Military Grid Reference System (MGRS), the British National Grid (BNG), Universal Transverse Mercator (UTM), and the United States National Grid (USNG) at your disposal. Yes, you can now finally access the same resources used by the U.S. military and NATO armed forces. And it's just as accurate as anything the U.S. government and NATO uses today. Soldiers and service-members will appreciate how TACNAV can help them in the field. Map, plot, photograph, and share navigational points with other users. Find your way back to an observation post, employ the night mode function for easier viewing in the dark, and switch quickly between different types of coordinate data and take advantage of the camera mode for real-time and photo stamping capabilities, and build overlays for mission planning, too. Everything you need is here, and has been extensively tested for accuracy in the remote mountains of Kunar Province, Afghanistan, during combat operations. Tactical NAV is on par with many of the GPS devices used by Soldiers and service-members today, and is just as accurate as devices (referencing the DAGR) costing thousands of dollars. Do yourself a favor. Download Tactical NAV now and put a portable, military-quality tactical-navigation software solution to work for you. IMPORTANT NOTES: Tactical NAV is not endorsed by the Department of Defense nor should it be used in combat situations in place of a government issued device.

Tactical NAV App Reviews

  • Impressive targeting platform

    By Brian Reyn
I have personally used this app in training and combat, as have many that I served with on Special Forces teams. It provides a user friendly interface, accurate location data, and a quick ability to gain targeting information. I’m highly surprised the USG hasn’t put this into official use in military units yet. It is already widely used and highly recommended amongst many SF, infantry, and artillery units and is regarded as the best app of its kind. Well done Tac NAV!
  • Great App for boating too

    By Infektid
My wife introduced me to the application a couple years ago. I wasn’t sure how I could utilize it at first. I realized that I could leverage the pins for fishing spots and marinas ad well as good locations along the River. Further we use the app while hiking to check out whereabouts and elevation. Great app.
  • Best app on the market

Not only does it do what I need it to do it’s very reliable.. allows me to find any location I need for work that other maps can’t reach thank you so much for he amazing work you put into this app
  • Sluggish.

An alright navigation application, feels sluggish even on my iPhone X. Not too happy about the $5 extra for drawing when it’s the first image in app preview.
  • Decent

Why can’t u zoom in? From so far up it’s limited as to what you can see, makes plotting points inaccurate unless ur inputting a grid. Not a bad app, just lacking some stuff.
  • Best Navigation App

As a soldier who has served in the Artillery branch as well as in Aviation this app is vey impressive. I have verified it’s accuracy against a DAGR and my personally owned GPS and it is spot on. Possibilities for this apps use are endless. Looking forward to using this app for Moose hunting in the mountains this fall!
  • Waste of money

    By insbjbh
Description says it is an iPad app but it is just a blown-up iPhone interface. One of the few times I wish there was a way to get refunds from the AppStore because I just wasted eight bucks.
  • Almost perfect

    By commander nobb
Great app, super intuitive and easy to use. I only have two complaints. One: it’s impossible to get distance in meters and target elevation in feet msl; it’s either metric or standard for both. Two: the app only supports portrait orientation. It would really help if we could flip our phone sideways and get a wider map to look at.
  • Great app!

This is a great app with even more potential than it already has. I have 56 months in country stacking bodies and this would be useful. Plus the draw add on is awesome. The developer John is responsive and if I can figure it out anyone can
