The New Yorker Magazine App Reviews

  • Won’t save downloaded issues

    By Puzzler814
I download an issue. Looks fine. I read an article. I turn off iPad. Go back to the app half an hour later when I’m on the plane- issues have disappeared. Previous. versions didn’t do this.
  • I’m good with it

    By mh6481
The app works fine for me to read the issues. I’d just love it if it allowed for negative reading with a black background and white lettering, pretty please?!!!
  • An OK app

    By gilliamwibson
Whats the point of this app if I can’t search for an article?
  • Audio

    By iPadnewbe66
Audio of poems and fiction does not work on the iPad app. Can anyone at tech NEW YORKER fix that?
  • Deletes my downloads

    By WRL133
The app used to work fine, and I loved that it remembered my place in the magazine from the previous time. Not only that, it remembered my place for each issue I kept. But now it deletes my downloaded magazines when I leave the app despite my telling it not to and despite my uninstalling and reinstalling a few times.
  • Ancient app; sign in broken

    By Ed Brey
The App Store says that the app is updated for iPhone X, but you’d never know it from the screen layout. Instead of a low quality custom app, the New Yorker would be better partnering with a magazine aggregator app.
  • Authentication failed..

    By KC1974
That’s as far as I get. Website - fine.
  • Sign in doesn’t work

    By Mzhenya
Doesn’t work.... can’t log in, reset password three times.
  • Better to read online with a web browser?

    By mjf224
The app on an iPad is disappointing. There’s no search or bookmarking feature, but the worst aspect is its inconsistent response to scrolling and page swiping. Too often I have to make several swiping attempts before the page changes. Equally frustrating is the occasional and unwanted page change that occurs when simply trying to scroll vertically.
  • The app is still awful

    By Piotr N
After several years of unbelievably poor performance, the TNY app is still one of the worst I have ever used. New issues don’t load, old issues disappear, the app randomly logs me out and crashes. The only disparity between the content and its method of delivery greater than this, that I can think of, is if Trump delivered MLK Jr.’s “I have a dream” speech. Update (April 9th, 2019): still awful - new issues fail to load or even appear, app keeps logging me out.
