This latest update is absolutely terrible. The app continuously crashes and freezes. What was a very useful tool has now become unusable.

  • almost unusable after purchasing Logos 8 upgrade

Having been a long time user of Logos, and having invested in it frequently, I was excited to see what improvements would come when upgrading a tool I rely on near constantly. Unfortunately, the upgrade has brought near constant frustration. After a few minutes of use, the app will refuse to load resource content. This can manifest in several ways. In scrolling mode, the “page” may just become blank. In non scrolling mode, the page turns to the same page (either backward or forward). Another manifestation is that content lines will be garbled or squished together, or highlights just added won’t appear, etc. I’ve deleted and re-downloaded resources. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app. I’ve enabled and disabled view settings. No help. Most of the time, closing and reopening the app will help, but to put it in perspective, I’ve done so 4 times in the past hour. This, as you can imagine, is very disruptive to study. Logos has been a great tool. However, if you’re an iOS user, I suggest you carefully consider the disruption I’ve described before upgrading.
  • Big update broke app badly

This is my go to app for school and ministry. It is the most used app on my iPad Pro 2nd gen. This new update has caused so many problems it becomes unusable every time I start to use it. I could not even show someone a commentary without it locking up. Here are the issues: 1. Swiping from book to book causes the book to become blank. The only fix is to remove the book, add it again, or restart the app. This happens ever session. I had 15 tabs and it’s never been like this before. 2. Dual pane; ESV and Study Bible. Scrolling through the Bible sometimes locks. I can scroll down but not up. Restarting fixes it. Happens ever session. 3. Slow: an iPad 2nd gen should not cause stutter when scrolling through a book or swiping from book to book. 4. Response time: same iPad. It takes upwards a min to get a passage or exegetical guide, or comparison Bibles. I have downloaded all 1800+ books and would hate to have to download them again just to see if it “fixes” it. These version is NOT good and should be avoided until all bugs are sorted out. We are not beta testers.

I use Logos almost-exclusively on the iPad Pro (my primary mobile device), not my desktop. I am mostly mobile. This app keeps getting more refined and powerful. Adding the URL/Link capability to the notes was HUGE. Two small buggy/bad experiences: READING: 1) Selecting text blocks/paragraphs (for highlight, note) has always been clunky. The blue select bars don’t always pickup my touch correctly and it will a) Highlight as if swiping a highlighter pen across the page b) bring up the context menu - which is always hard to make go away so I can try to keep getting a handle on the select bar c) sometimes not appear at all when I try to select text ... resizing the app or changing orientation seems to do the trick PRAYERS: 2) Once Created, Cannot change a list a prayer is assigned. Have to Recreate it in another list, and delete it from the incorrect list. This is a weakness of Logos across all platforms I’ve found. (There could be something I’m missing, but as a software engineer and a knack for digging, I’ve looked)

  • Great Vehicle, But Rides Ruff

This vehicle doesn’t have a fine tuned automatic transmission, that glides through the gears with smoothness and ease, so be prepared to shift gears manually—and tolerate the occasional gear grinds. It has a heater and air conditioning but they don’t always work as efficiently as they should. It has all the bells and whistles but, sometimes takes work to use them. There are lots of accessories to purchase to improve the vehicle—which is highly recommended by this owner. There is no warranty so don’t bother with complaining—or offering useful suggestions for improvement—to the manufacturer because they know what you need better than you do—you’ll just have to drive it like it is. Though your journey is long, this clunky vehicle is getting me to where I am going better than any other that I have driven so far—she’s a top of the line vehicle. May the living God bless you as you travel in this vehicle!

I use this app often and find linking bibles to study aids and commentary invaluable. The only feedback I would give is to please consider a sans serif option for resources. Happy customer.
  • Wonderful in every way.

Thanks for a great package of Bible study materials.
  • What happened to Highlight-Inductive Symbols?

    3
    By Diffrentdrummr
In the recent update, the symbols for inductive highlights have disappeared from some sections of the menu. The original symbols and description on the INDUCTIVE/PRECEPT menu are intact. New lists I have created (even those lists where original symbols are duplicated) and new inductive symbols I added show only the description on the menu. No image. No weenie whistle.
