  • Needs improvement

If I'm being honest, I consider Crunchyroll to be garbage and will resort to using virtually any other service if possible before conceding to use it... (Well, except Crackle, but that's nothing to brag about). Whatever they're implementing their videos with, it's a dumpster fire, dragging its heels on loading/buffering, collapsing into horrible levels of definition, and crashing and forcing me to start from square one of the interface every time I switch apps or let my iPad go to sleep... It's basically pointless to start watching something unless I know I have time to finish it. It's also just drowning in ads in the free version, which also commonly crash the app., and for some reason are like the same few ads over and over again. I've had the same ad play five times in a row more than once. The free version also puts episodes past the first one or two behind a paywall for many shows...You'd think either the deluge of ads or a paywall would fund them, but apparently they feel they need both... Even though they spend that revenue on goofy junk like awards shows and funding their own series rather than acquiring more liscences or improving their interface. Really the apps only saving grace is at least it doesn't bombard me with pop ups or cry because I disabled cookies like the site does on a PC. Basically the only time I turn to this site is if it has stuff I truly can't find elsewhere... Which unfortunately there's a number of shows in that category for me at the moment I want to see.and thus I'll likely nd up buying into a subscription at least briefly since the free version borders on intolerable... I can't say I'm happy about it though, because it doesn't feel like I actually get much... I mostly prefer dubs because I "watch" things exclusively in the background while working, so I just don't get time for subs since it requires my full attention... And the selection of dubs is pathetic. Most subs can be pirated for free... I have mora, issues with DOING that, but it leaves me feeling like I'm not getting anything for my subscription fee if that's all the site offers, and it has all the malware, buggy interface, and pop ups to match.TBH I wish that Hulu and Funimation were snatching more series out from under them, with things as they are... I'd love it if this service was good, or even decent, but... It isn't, IMO

This Is my go to anime app, I love everything about from the name to the display. Now most people on here are complaining about ads and I hate them as much as any one else, but I also now that running this isn’t free and that they need the ads to run it. I do have one suggestion on the extremely low chance any one sees this, make the ads consistent, if like to be able to know if I have to watch 3 or 5 or however many ads, cause it can really mess with my flow when watching shows.

I recommend this app for people who don’t have enough money to buy memberships on any website or app but there are way too many ads. But besides that it’s a very good app.
  • WAY too many ads

I had been watching some anime on my pc and wanted to switch to my iPad so I could use the pc for other things, but the crunchy roll app just has far far too many ads if you don’t get a paid account. One episode has upwards of five or six ads PER BREAK, and that’s just excessive. Until they fix this nonsense, I’ll keep using the browser version, and I’ll never be buying premium until they make the free version less freaking thirsty.
  • I love it, but some problems

I love Crunchyroll! I would recommend it to people that love anime! But there are some things that need to be done. One annoying is that in some series you need premium to watch episodes of it! For example, in Anima Yell, I needed premium to watch episode 3! Which stinks because I love this series so much! There are wayyyy too many ads!

at first glance, looks like any other video content app, but some seriously annoying issues - couple off the top of my head: 1) when you see a list of episodes, there is no indicator telling you which one you’re currently watching 2) when you minimize the player controls, there is no way to get back to it; selecting the episode you’re watching brings back the controls, but per bullet pt 1 up there, you wouldn't know which ep you’re watching unless you were 3) i’m not entirely sure where your bookmarked shows go - your account page is just account settings, there is no dedicated bookmarks page. where i would expect to see recommended content to check out is where my bookmarks seem to be 4) app crashes, fails to load / freezes, and has SSL errors at least 1/3 of the time you’re using it

Best quality for all your anime and drama content.
  • Broken search and no downloads

Firstly, the search box is broken. If you add a space in the search query, nothing will show up. On top of that, the search history records the full anime name (includes spaces) so selecting them doesn’t work. Secondly, the app does not offer a download ability. It’s 2018 and so many other video streaming platforms (e.g. Netflix) offer the ability to download shows or movies. This feature is important for people who commute on the train to work and don’t want to kill all their data. I understand CrunchyRoll is a busy company but these features and bugs shouldn’t be that difficult to fix.
