  • Yay, my favorite app, and you fixed my one gripe!

    By Vivifyme
Pocket revolutionized my life. Thanks in large part to its text to speech features. But, a recent update had required an internet connection. This massively impacted on many of my most common use cases. But, the team immediately reacted to my input. And have now even addressed the problem. You are super stars! Thank.
  • Love playlist mode in recent updates, but...

Some of the features from earlier version that I wish were restored: - Seeing the text highlighted word-by-word as the audio text-to-speech plays. - Option for alternate voices, like Siri voice in older versions. Quite frankly, I thought the Siri voice on iOS version had better word enunciation than current human-like audio voice. All in all, I enjoy the other added features over the past year. Sincerely, A heavy Pocket user over the past 3 years, Top 1% Pocket reader, and premium subscriber.
  • Ok app.

Newest update only has a few recommendations. Harder to save articles from email recommendations. My main gripe with this App is why they recommend articles that you either need to pay for or need a username and password. Also have synching issues across different devices. Could be better.
  • Latest update

Since I just updated to the most recent version, refresh does nothing at all. No new stories are downloading into my app. I had to reboot my iPad to get stories to load into Pocket app. following this most recent update
  • Pocket A Broken App Since Oct 2018

    By Lee-Zammer
This once was a serious app that allowed for much flexibility in how it was used. If you were taking a long hike, you could load hours of reading material for both eyes-on reading (when you were taking a break) as well as audible read-to-you content (for paying attention to the trail). This functionality was stripped many months ago. Now, if you’re not on the grid, forget such access. You must be connected to the Internet simply to read your saved articles. In audible mode, the text used to scroll with a highlight of what was being read. This is much how Kindle for iOS works when you have Audible content installed. It’s not particularly necessary for light reading. But for non-fiction, where there are names, and terms, and complex explanations, you may well want to stop the read-to-you mode and examine the text more carefully. This is now totally broken in Pocket. If you stop the audio you will be dumped at the beginning of the article. You’re now expected to scroll around attempting to figure out where you stopped the audio. Pocket doesn’t even provide a simple text search. This is so high friction that attempting this once or twice will dissuade you from ever trying to find the part of the article you want to read closely. It’s a fair app for consuming simple, short and unsophisticated material. But if you aim higher, Pocket will fail you.
  • Thank you...

....So much for flagging the "popular on the internet" and "based on your interests". Its maddening to only be offered things "platforms" think I will like. Wish could turn of personal preferences for web searches, netflix, etc... So thank you for mixing it with curated content, keeping it fresh, and above all, being transparent.
  • Big fan but I miss page-flipping

    By OswinTheHuman
I love this app. Except for a few glitches with downloading longer or adult articles, it’s excellent and has been on my phone for years. Last year I didn’t do much reading, but now I’m back and missing one of my favorite features. Page-flipping used to be excellent, but now I find it frequently cuts off a line or two at the transition spot at the bottom of the page. This is frustrating and I’d love to be able to use that function again without immediately turning it off because I missed a line. However, besides that it’s a great app and I love it so much.
  • Great discovery- have the article read to you!

    By johnhh04
I love this app even more since I discovered the ability to have the article read to me. I constantly come across articles that I want to read but don’t have time to read it in the moment. This app allows you to save across all browsers and devices. The biggest problem I have always had with saving something to read later is the fact that I don’t return to actually read it because of time. But today I was up early and opened the app because I wanted to read an article that I saved yesterday and when I did this I noticed the headphone icon. I clicked the icon and it started reading the article. So today I was able to catch up on a dozen articles. Now I love this app even more.
  • What happened?

Discover feature never loads now. Just remains blank. Love saving stuff, but I miss the discover feature.
  • Pocket Power User...SOOOO frustrated with search functionality

    By zcochran88
I am a Premium Pocket User. I bought Premium not because I needed the features, but because I loved the app that much. For the last 4-5 years, I have been in the top 1-5% of readers on the platform. I would tell everyone I knew about Pocket. Pocket developers, you have made the app unusable for me. I have saved about 400 of my favorite articles over the years, and there is no easy way to access them. Let me be straight with you—I will continue to be frustrated with Pocket until you fix the search feature. I should be able to type in 1-3 key words, like I do in Google, and filter the articles by my favorites. Unless I’ve missed something, this is impossible. I have saved about 10,000 articles over the last 5-8 years. That is a lot of stuff I will never read, and it has become super frustrating to find anything. I’m basically at the point where I need to manually go through and copy at all my favorites (by the way, your export feature was NO help with this) to a new Pocket account and start over. Want to really help me out the easy way? Please email me an export of all my favorite article URLs. Please, please fix your filtering mechanism within the app, and make it faster. You could fix your recommended articles feature too, while you’re at it. Not the one where Pocket recommends articles, but where I share them. The whole app feels like it’s trapped in the early 2010s. Even your new Beta on desktop is frustrating, because while it is clean, it’s no help in managing and organizing the content I have already saved. I get it, the original goal was to “read it later.” The problem is that when I want to read it again, or recommend it to someone to read, it’s impossible. So, so frustrating, because this could be such an invaluable resource that I would pay a lot more than $45 a year for. I’m using this as a quality content database, and it’s not functional. I’ve chosen not to renew my subscription because this is so frustrating. If I’m using the app in a way you don’t want to fix, fine, feel free to respond and let me know. You’re welcome to email me or contact me to talk further. My username is zacharymcochran. Thanks for listening.
