Dictionary.com: English Words App Reviews

  • Was a great app till recently

The pronounce button has not been working, the IPA part shows your codes, and there are pop-up ads shown full-screen randomly.
  • Adds are too intrusive.

    By buddhajourney
Thought I would use this with my kids to improve their writing. However adds are unexpected, intrusive, and confuse them.
  • My paid-for app just disappeared

And when I went to the App Store and retrieved it from iCloud it isn’t the premium version. I have ads popping up and limited access to app resources! I tried to find an email link to complain, but couldn’t find one. So here I am registering my complaint until the matter is resolved. Up until this point, dictionary.com app has been one of my most-used apps!!
  • Freezes up a lot in loading definitions

This is a dictionary app, it should be easy to use. And there’s even ads sometimes that pop up? Honestly, just use google.
  • Used to be much better

I have tried to contact them several times because one day the pronunciation feature no longer worked. I use it a lot just because it was fun and I don’t want to delete it and download it again because I’m not sure if I will lose all my favorite words, (and they never bother to respond) so it’s very frustrating. I’m really disappointed.
  • DO NOT DOWNLOAD. Ads block you even after paying.

    By rooattack
Huge problems here and guess what? they don’t care. Here’s what to look for: - Even after paying for the highest upgrade, the app inundates you with obstructing ads that block you for 10 secs at a time that you cannot close. Moreover, you’re a full paying customer at this point and they still desperately force ads for revenue. - the ads’ “X” button to close the ad suddenly disappears after 0.5s before you can close it. They must think people are complete idiots. - you can’t look up words like “craving” — it only takes “crave” in the thesaurus. Basically, the app is pretty dumb too. I’ve had this app for almost a year now and finally switching since they have not responded to a single review, comment, or email touch my team and I has sent the past year. We were giving them a chance but now we plan to start hitting social hard with this review. The conclusion is that desperately monetized apps that disregard user-empathy at all costs end up losing fast. The ones that wait for thousands to complain about something (trying to get a quick buck in before the media rants) lose all respect. The ones that don’t listen stop being listened to by the public in return. Too bad, you had your chance.
  • Forced adds are ruining it

    By Tayylorco
I understand the need to make a profit. You guys are a business. I get that. Forcing people to interactive advertisements is crossing the line, though. If I have to play a tutorial of a game in the hopes of an exit button (there wasn’t one), I will just delete the app. It’s faster to go online than it is to fight your way out of the ads.
  • can't hear the pronounce

  • Can’t add to the comments section

Can’t add to the comments section of words that you save. 🤷🏾‍♂️
