Dictionary.com: English Words App Reviews

  • Kind of surprised it’s not better.

    By KoolerKT
Really lacking so much. It’s not my intention to give the numerous examples of why I give this application an average rating. Average is actually better than what I think it deserves. In short, I’m shocked that it’s not more thorough and accurate. Furthermore, the communication with the organization is not clear or even fairly easy to do.

was getting multiple notifications every morning for the word of the day

I would recommend a kid one because some kids are really smart and they would search up inappropriate things
  • Unreadably Small Text

    By ChristopherMusic
The font size used throughout the app is unreadably small. No options to increase.
  • Downhill

I used to love this app. I liked the layout and structure. But it’s gone to crap. I struggle with aphasia and I heavily relied on the thesaurus segment. I’d have so many options to scroll through then to click on and grapevine around to find the word I couldn’t recall, but now I get one very limited list per word searched. And the ads interfere so much when it comes to quick-searches, even for definitions. Infuriating really. And so severely disappointing. Will no longer be using this app.
  • Can’t live without but ...

    By Shideh70
The prounonciation speaker button doesn’t work recently.
  • Crashtastic

    By Rubidium
... may or may not be an actual word; all I know is that, when I try to look up a word, I get the little spinny “working on it” animation on screen, then BOOM! The app crashes. Call me crestfallen.
  • Gone bad!!

    By Baye1
It used to be simply an AWESOME and great app! 🎻🎤 Now, it has gone DOWNHILL!!! Oh my! The mic does not work. When I press it to pronounce a word, it does not work. It used to also have sample sentences; it barely does now. This is what you get for a paid app! Crazy!
  • Dictionary.com offline charges but seems to forget that I paid

    By Diego Calhoun
I love the online version but am continuously pestered to pay for the offline version even where I have good cellular data connection. I have paid several times but still get harangued for more payments. I finally got fed up and bought the American Heritage Dictionary.
  • Too many ads

    By Mrgrimmthebam
This is a great app, but there are far too many ads. I understand the app is free, but IOS has built-in dictionary…that is also free. The ads are an annoyance that are simply too much to bear.
