Reeder 4 App Description

A news reader for iOS with support for various sync services. Reeder 4 adds new features like… - The new Bionic Reading mode - An in-app Read Later service which syncs with iCloud - Image previews in the articles list (finally) - Search - Much improved article viewer - More layout options - Improved reader view - More shortcuts, matching the ones of Reeder for Mac Supported sync services: - Feedbin - Feedly - Feed Wrangler - FeedHQ - NewsBlur - The Old Reader - Inoreader - BazQux Reader - Instapaper If you want to use a self-hosted service, Reeder should work with services which use the Fever or the Google Reader API. Or just standalone RSS (without syncing) if you don't want to use any service. Reeder 4 is also available for macOS. Please note: If you rely on image caching, this feature unfortunately wasn't ready for the 4.0 release but it's in the works.

Outstanding update! Finally we have automatic reader view!! It’s great how you can do it by feed as well. This app is just about perfect for me now! Thanks Silvio!
  • Good upgrade…

But I really miss peek & pop support to quickly view a full summary of an article. Keeps me switching back to 3 for first pass.

Bionic reading mode really helps me with my slight dyslexia. Just wish we could choose alt. Icon or that the design of the icon was more like the old.. this one is very un-iOS-like.
  • Oddly, a step backwards

Loved version 3 and used it everyday, so I was happy to upgrade if only to support the developer. And while this new version does add some nice animations and tweaks, there are some tangible steps backwards. The shortcuts to save to services like Pocket are still available but not as quick and convenient as in the last version. I've also run into some frustrating bugs, particularly related to marking articles as read.
  • Beautiful reader

Been using this for a month and love it. I have not noticed any bugs or issues whatsoever as referenced in a few of the critical reviews and I find the aesthetics to be perfect.
  • Good but not perfect

Good update but aesthetics are off: feed list spacing is too loose with a lot of space between different newsfeeds and the last feed I read is still displayed even though there are no unread feeds in it. Seems to be a bug.
  • Bugs, crashes, less features than previous version

Yikes, wish I hadn’t purchased this. Lots of bugs, easily reproducible crashes, and missing features that were in the excellent version three. No response from developer using app feedback. Developer has long history of being slow to update apps and fix bugs, so I guess I’ve wasted my money - wish I’d waited a year to see if anything gets better, suggest you not purchase now, you’ll only be frustrated.
  • Needs UX tweeking

The new UI is generally sharp, but it comes with a whole new set of quirks. The animations are extremely slow, and cannot (yet) be changed. The sync process still works, and the interface customization is inline with what I’d expect for Reeder, but it doesn’t feel like anything has changed to justify the re-purchase cost over Reeder 3.
  • Reeder is my favorite RSS app

I’ve been using Reeder for forever. The new version is great! One thing I’d like to see come back is image alt text. This is critical for those of us who subscribe to web comics. The old reeder let you get at alt text pretty easily.
