  • A great game (at certain levels)

    By Peacepipe01
Fantastic game for trekkies! But. . . Progression is rather flat. Everyone has to follow the same game path during play. It’s not a game stopper, just annoying. Even though it is initially a free game you will have to buy some stuff at Operations level 10 to stay current with the players that like to BPH (Broke-Player Hunt). Otherwise, you’ll be rebuilding your ship constantly and not accomplishing anything. It isn’t a lot of money but it does cut down on game frustration. You don’t have to make a purchase but they don’t make these games for the heck of it. Eventually, you should pay them something. (I spent $35.00 I couldn’t afford the first day, so . . . 😔) Ship building is linear, but once again you’ll find this not a game stopper. It just cuts down on the expected fun. Finding star systems that you’ve been to before is difficult unless you have a great memory and a sense of direction. The game is buggy but simply cut the game off and then on and you should be fine. At four stars, you can tell I was a trekkie. The game is fun and fun is . . . uh . . . fun. Play it please!
  • Poor engineering and even poorer implementation

    By Ad-ageddon!!!
This game suffers from downright bad engineering, dismal customer service, and piss-poor implementation. Ignoring the fact that this is a straight pay-to-win game, it is very apparent that Scopely has no idea to run a multiplayer online game. Bad engineering leads to game crashes, lag, game features that have to be turned off by the publisher, features that players pay for not working, quest failures and more. Their customer service is of the “did you turn it off and on? Try again.” Their customer support team cannot actually help you, as the engineers have ruined the system. Most of the time you are just told, “This is an issue we know about and are working on”, but the issue never gets resolved. Compounding this is Scopely’s rotten implementation. Their ads show huge ship battles, which are impossible within the game. Quests are given which cannot be finished without spending thousands of dollars as the foes are 5-10 times more powerful, or in places you cannot travel to without spending said money on upgrades. Events are run causing every player on the server to be in the same space, crashing the system/server. There is also no way to team up on more powerful/higher level players, giving lower level players nothing to do but get bullied, robbed, and abused. Even if you are willing to suffer through this, the worst is that this isn’t Star Trek. There are no ideals here. There is no grand space opera, no clash of empires between the Federation, Klingons and Romulans. The game is mostly mining resources. Most player conflict is over use of mining nodes, not in preserving a culture. There is no war, just squabbles over mine ownership. But the icing on the cake is that there is no way to invite your friends from outside the game to play with you. Server assignment is random; there is no way to invite your friends to your server, even is your server isn’t locked. So even if you like the game, you would never invite your friends to play, as they most likely would be on a different server. Throw in abusive player behavior, misogyny, rude and racist language/player names, and you have a failure of an opportunity.
  • Ships

Need to get ships faster. Can’t spend every second every day just to get bigger better ships
  • MONEY PIT... and/or nonexistent progression.

    By jozment
Listen, I actually really enjoyed this game’s visuals and the fact that it seems huge... however, once you break it down to the complete context, it’s the same thing over and over again. It’s extremely slow to progress if you pay nothing, and still very slow to progress if you spend HUNDREDS. Much of the mission play is cut off until you’ve progressed (to a point I never reached) or you are stuck doing the same thing over and over again to get one piece of the puzzle progressed. Customer service provided no answers to simple questions, responding “you’ll just have to find out.” This is a waste of time and the in game purchase items are not worth the price, AT ALL... I requested a refund, and now have learned that Apple does not provide a refund for in app purchases, I assume unless the product wasn’t provided. 1 day or 30 days, doesn’t matter if you are dissatisfied with the product... Learn from me, find another place to spend your time, and certainly don’t waste your money.
  • Slow Game Play But Very Fun

    By LouieR5135
The game is extremely fun to play and addictive in the beginning it’s easy to upgrade and you can pretty much gain all the resources necessary endgame to upgrade but it is a grind my recommendation would be to join a very good alliance from the beginning that supports you teaches you about the inns and outs of the game and even help you gain resources and protect you against bullies in the game because let me tell you this game has lots of bullies in it that constantly attack weaker players one of the things I would add in this gameWould be Easter egg like prizes that would be random of course but would encourage players to stay in and play to try to get these where the prices would be extraordinary allowing them to advance things like 100 hours of speed ups or combination of speed ups big swaths of resources instead of little tiny ones that feed you with a bird dropper people want to advance that is in our nature and if it takes them five weeks just to try to get it shipped to compete less people are going to stay in the game and play but all in all I give it five stars because it is a lot of fun and the possibilities are pretty much endless
