UpLift for Depression App Description

"I have already had my eyes opened to so many new tools in only one forty minute session with the app." "Thank you so much. I'm seriously about to cry because today's session was so important and useful to me." *SCIENCE* A pilot study of 80 UpLift users showed that in just 1 month, those who stuck with the program had nearly a 50% reduction in depression scores that lasted.(1) UpLift was developed by expert psychologists and leaders from the field of mobile mental health. It's based on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, which has been used to treat people with depression for over 30 years. "UpLift is strongly aligned with the principles and methods of cognitive-behavioral therapy. A carefully done study has clearly demonstrated its positive outcomes for people who struggle with depression." - Dr. Keith Dobson, Advisor and a world-renowned expert on CBT. He's been president of the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy and the Academy of Cognitive Therapy and the author or editor of over 15 books on CBT. *SESSIONS* UpLift provides you 12 interactive sessions that are around 45 minutes long each week. In the sessions, you'll be answering questions, doing mental exercises, and getting customized feedback and guidance. Here are some of the sessions you'll work through: - The Emotional Equation - Positive Activities - Lies Depression Tells You - Recognizing Thought Errors - Confronting Thought Errors After the sessions, you'll unlock tools in your toolbox. *TOOLBOX* The toolbox contains tools that enable you to apply the skills you learn in the sessions to your daily life. Here's a sample of some of the tools you'll unlock with UpLift: - Problem Solver - Mood Journal - Trigger Plan - Thought Errors - Reframing Struggles - Goal Trainer - Mood Boosters *COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY* Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a type of psychotherapy that was developed in the 1960’s, based on the idea that modifying thought and behavior patterns was more important than understanding the psychological origins of behavior. Because this new method does not require the presence of a therapist, attempts were soon made to automate the process, first with “bibliotherapy” (CBT self-help books), and then with “CCBT,” or Computerized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. UpLift is a new generation of CCBT (now called “iCBT”). UpLift uses our own proprietary programming technology to make it dynamic and responsive and modern UX design to make it a pleasure to use, while maintaining tried-and-proven CBT methods at it's heart. *PRICING* UpLift is free to download and the first session is free of charge. You can unlock all of the sessions and the entire toolkit via an auto-renewing subscription. There are two subscription options: *$29.99 for 1 month *$44.99 for 3 months Payment will be charged to your iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription of 1 month ($29.99) or 3 months ($44.99) will automatically be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same subscription length and price unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your subscription may be managed and auto-renewal may be turned off by going to your Account Settings after purchase. *TERMS & PRIVACY* Terms of Service: https://www.uplift.app/termsofuse Privacy Policy: https://www.uplift.app/privacypolicy *CONTACT* Email - contact@uplift.app Facebook - www.facebook.com/UpLiftTheApp Twitter - www.twitter.com/UpLiftTheApp (1) - Liu, E., & Pluta, A., & Dobson, K. UpLift for Depression App Reviews

  • Fabulous App!

I am an actual user of Uplift- most of the negative reviews are by people who have never used the app, but feel entitled to leave a negative review because there is a higher than average subscription fee. The fee is well worth it - they’ve built much more into Uplift than the average app has, and it really helps. I have been using Uplift for 3 months. When I started using it I was deeply depressed. Uplift started to help immediately, and it raised my baseline and I have many more good days than bad. Uplift feels very responsive and tailors some of what it suggests to my answers. It feels like interacting with a caring therapist. It seems like the training and activities are generally based on CBT, Behavioral Activation, Martin Seligman’s ideas about optimistic reframing of events and challenges, and general problem solving. Uplift is very supportive and makes it easy to incorporate the various strategies in your day to day life. Their tech support is also very responsive. I am deeply grateful for the help Uplift has given me and continues to give me.
  • Crashes after a few weeks

I’ll echo what others have said. At first I liked it but after a few weeks it crashed repeatedly. I deleted, redownloaded and it still won’t work. Womp. Wasted $30.
  • App doesn’t work!

It’s stuck. I deleted the re installed but, still isn’t working. No customer serve/help link in so there’s no way to get help. I am now out $50, for a three month subscription. Buyer beware.

I have found this app helpful to augment, reinforce, and practice what I’ve learned through therapy. It offers a structured way to review principles and apply techniques at a comfortable pace of your choosing that mimics the conversational style of therapy. The price is higher than typical apps, but it seems like a good investment considering that it packages and guides you through a suite of lessons and tools. The benefit seems proportional to the effort you invest in using the app, with one exception: there is no easy way to scroll through and review all of the entries you make in the mood journal and the various tools, the way you could in a traditional journal.
  • Horrible and shameful

This is a sick scam to take advantage of depressed people. The app starts off like it wants to help you then a few moments into using it it demands a huge fee. Absolute garbage and the app makes should be banned from the App Store permanently.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy - helpful!

This is much more cost effective than therapy but uses similar tools! It’s a good way to work through some things & learn more about your thoughts - while gaining some coping skills. Especially if you’re in a place where you can’t afford therapy! This is not a permanent replacement for therapy for everyone - but super helpful!

It worked great for about two weeks but after that functionality declined on a daily basis until it crashed completely. It took about a week to totally stop working. Definitely not worth the money.

I was under the impression that the in-app purchases would be for special features, but instead they charge you if you want to move forward in the program. At first I thought the app was great, and I recommended it to a struggling friend, but apparently inexpensive help is too good to be true.

Furious.... have contacted company twice since paying for 3 months. Everything is still locked so this app has done me no good at all. I want a refund NOW for this piece of crap.

As soon as I subscribed I did the first few chapters. It quit working one week after I paid my 3 month subscription. I’m waiting for an update. So far the only only thing I got was an email saying they were sending it to tech support. I’ll update this as I can. Now that it’s working I feel it might help some. I really enjoyed session 3. It might even be 5 stars eventually.
