This app charges $8 weekly for basically nothing. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!
  • Riddles not Buddhism

From what I can tell so far, this app is just a bunch of intellectually challenging play on words, not necessarily the type of engaging buddhism app you’d hope for after paying $30 a month for.... kind of bummed out about it honestly. And I’ve practiced formal meditation daily and consider myself a contemporary Bon Tibetan Buddhist practitioner so I don’t say this from a western point of view. I have read several books also... just expected more I guess.
  • Y so much

Buddha looking down on you would be very disappointed trying to charge for his teachings. I have three other apps thought a fourth would bring me to enlightenment sooner.
  • Buddha did not charge $30 for a list of quotes

This is so so bad. Even a free trial is a subscription?! You should be ashamed of yourself. This app is like a Buddha tattoo on the foot...
  • Bad karma - App downloaded beware

I checked out this app and ended up being sneakily charged $8 for access for a week for quotes you can get by just googling.

The Buddha would never advocate charging an arm and a leg for his teachings. I recommend you lower the cost significantly. For those wanting to learn about Buddhism, google local temples and I’m sure actual Buddhists and Monks would be happy to teach you for free or on a donation basis.
  • This is not what my master taught me.

As most know, the Buddha did not charge for spiritual instruction - he took voluntary donations. He also didn't favour established religious centres, perhaps because he knew the worldly corruption that it can bring. In the modern world it is difficult to follow that example - but it can be done if we are not following our egos and trying to build a religious empire or a cosy life for ourselves. The front rooms of our houses can be used as many Christian groups do. I also believe the exchange of money - as a charge - damages the spiritual connection between teacher and pupil and at the very least causes the student to doubt the sincerity of the teaching in a capitalist world. A free teaching, given as a gift, is a powerful thing and can often reach people.
