I've never had a problem with sync across many devices. Would love to see a search based on ingredients vs names.
  • Great recipe manager

Even if this app *didn't* auto-import recipes online (which it does!), it'd be a great recipe manager. We've been using it for years and love it.
  • Great

Very simply: This app is amazing. I use it every day. But -- and it's a big but -- their support is non-existent. Send a question: You hear nothing. Send a suggestion: You hear nothing. Post something on their Zendesk Q&A site: You hear nothing (and articles there are many months old). File a bug report: You hear nothing. Updates are rare and while there are not many issues, they live long, healthy lives. Example: If you edit a recipe and quit the app, unlike every other app, it doesn't cue you to Save. But that said, it rocks the house in every important way. Of particular excellence is its ability to import recipes from every cooking site I know, almost flawlessly. And it syncs magnificently, so I can ebter recipes on my Mac, use an ipad in the kitchen, and if I am at someone's house, use my phone to access a recipe. ALL my reipes are always with me.

To all the people who are feed up with MacGourmet. You need to say good-bye to the MacGourmet people. I have been in contact with them since Jan 11 2019 with the problem of syncing to their iCloud. If you can not sync to the iCloud you can not sync to your other devises and not use you recipes at the store. So, I have said “good-bye MacGourmet and Hello Paprika”. I had no problems importing all recipes from MacGourmet, I had over 700 hundred recipes. Paprika has all the main features as MacGourmet and they have even one better. You can go to the website where your recipe is and click on the download button and there you go. All done and you have your picture, ingredients and directions plus if the Nutrition Facts are there you will find the fact listed with your recipe. It is so easy to add new categories and you can also just drag your recipe to any of the categories. All your devises sync automatically when you add, made a adjustment or delete a recipe. It is worth the 29.99 for the app on a computer. I paid the 4.99 for my iPhone and I didn’t need to pay for the app on my iPad. Now I am set to go. I love this app. So, if you are thinking about ditching MacGourmet now is the time to do it. You will not be sorry. It is so easy to import the files, if you are using other devises you just need to use the same email address and password for all your devises. So, what are you waiting for. Sharon L
  • Glad I moved from MacGourmet Deluxe

I know people have complained about MacGourmet (MG) sync for a while, but I hadn't run into an issue until 2 months ago. MG didn't respond quickly, and when they did, weren't of any use. So, off to try Paprika, which I had tested a few years ago. Back then, it seemed nice, but not worth the hassle of moving over and MG was working for me. This time, I'm sticking. Thoughts for other people considering moving from MG: *Sync works quickly and seamlessly. *I acutally prefer that recipe ingredients are just text formated with Markdown (super simple to use). Much more user friendly than the tabular format of MG. * Pinned recipes are fabulous and easy to change. When making grocery list I pin the recipes I want and they are easy to find on both computer and ipad app. *My first time looking at Paprika, I thought you couldn’t relate recipes, but you can and it's actually more smooth than MG's "relationship manager." You just make links to the recipes via the markdown editor. The documentation could be a little more clear about this, but it works great. Things I miss: *Paprika doesn't have a generic notes area like MG, but I only have a few notes. I created a recipe category called "Ze notes" (so it will be at the end of my category list), and add "recipes" there to capture the few notes I have. *Smart lists: The search function in Paprika is good, but I wish I could save some of those common searches as in MG. Things I didn't use in MG so I don't miss/can't compare: wine, beer, cheese notes; blog posts; shopping lists; cookbooks Thoughts on importing: My MG database didn't import perfectly. Servings and ratings were omitted from the import, but then all recipes were assigned a difficulty of easy, even though that field was blank in MG. It took me a while to go through and clean up the recipes, but honestly, I needed to do that anyway. Just be aware you may need some clean up. Wishlist for Paprika: * Smartlists/saved searches * Notes area * The ability to choose which columns are shown in column view. Been using the app for a month now and in general loving it.
  • Worth it!

Great app. Really does a great job of uploading and organizing recipes.
  • The iTunes of recipies - and that's a good thing!

I love this app, from it's great design to easy of use. Typing in recipies is easy and importing them from websites is even easier! Tagging recipies makes them easy to find and the conversions feature is great for doubling recipies on the fly.
