To all the people who are feed up with MacGourmet. You need to say good-bye to the MacGourmet people. I have been in contact with them since Jan 11 2019 with the problem of syncing to their iCloud. If you can not sync to the iCloud you can not sync to your other devises and not use you recipes at the store. So, I have said “good-bye MacGourmet and Hello Paprika”. I had no problems importing all recipes from MacGourmet, I had over 700 hundred recipes. Paprika has all the main features as MacGourmet and they have even one better. You can go to the website where your recipe is and click on the download button and there you go. All done and you have your picture, ingredients and directions plus if the Nutrition Facts are there you will find the fact listed with your recipe. It is so easy to add new categories and you can also just drag your recipe to any of the categories. All your devises sync automatically when you add, made a adjustment or delete a recipe. It is worth the 29.99 for the app on a computer. I paid the 4.99 for my iPhone and I didn’t need to pay for the app on my iPad. Now I am set to go. I love this app. So, if you are thinking about ditching MacGourmet now is the time to do it. You will not be sorry. It is so easy to import the files, if you are using other devises you just need to use the same email address and password for all your devises. So, what are you waiting for. Sharon L

I know people have complained about MacGourmet (MG) sync for a while, but I hadn't run into an issue until 2 months ago. MG didn't respond quickly, and when they did, weren't of any use. So, off to try Paprika, which I had tested a few years ago. Back then, it seemed nice, but not worth the hassle of moving over and MG was working for me. This time, I'm sticking. Thoughts for other people considering moving from MG: *Sync works quickly and seamlessly. *I acutally prefer that recipe ingredients are just text formated with Markdown (super simple to use). Much more user friendly than the tabular format of MG. * Pinned recipes are fabulous and easy to change. When making grocery list I pin the recipes I want and they are easy to find on both computer and ipad app. *My first time looking at Paprika, I thought you couldn’t relate recipes, but you can and it's actually more smooth than MG's "relationship manager." You just make links to the recipes via the markdown editor. The documentation could be a little more clear about this, but it works great. Things I miss: *Paprika doesn't have a generic notes area like MG, but I only have a few notes. I created a recipe category called "Ze notes" (so it will be at the end of my category list), and add "recipes" there to capture the few notes I have. *Smart lists: The search function in Paprika is good, but I wish I could save some of those common searches as in MG. Things I didn't use in MG so I don't miss/can't compare: wine, beer, cheese notes; blog posts; shopping lists; cookbooks Thoughts on importing: My MG database didn't import perfectly. Servings and ratings were omitted from the import, but then all recipes were assigned a difficulty of easy, even though that field was blank in MG. It took me a while to go through and clean up the recipes, but honestly, I needed to do that anyway. Just be aware you may need some clean up. Wishlist for Paprika: * Smartlists/saved searches * Notes area * The ability to choose which columns are shown in column view. Been using the app for a month now and in general loving it.

I love this app, from it's great design to easy of use. Typing in recipies is easy and importing them from websites is even easier! Tagging recipies makes them easy to find and the conversions feature is great for doubling recipies on the fly.

I absolutely LOVE this app. I've been using it for a few years now. I've referred dozens of friends to it and they love it too. It does everything a recipe manager should and then some, like being able to easily download a recipe right from a website. The most incredible and quite surprising part was, the synching which includes the groceries lists! Now I and my partner can add to our grocery list at any time with any of our devices. At the store, we can split up and cut our shopping time down substantially with the grocery list on our phones, checking off items as we go separately. Love it!

I've been using cookbook programs for more than 30 years. I don't remember the first program's name but I've used micro cookbook, living cookbook and, until very recently. Mac Gourmet. Everything about Paprika is superior to any program I've used in the past. Some reviewer's have balked at the price but I think Paprika is a bargain. Mac gourmet has been so frustrating and flaky that I became used to all its quirks and errors. Unlike Macgourmet, Paprika has the same number of recipes on all of my devices: iPad, iPhone, & MacBook. And when I update or add a recipe, it appreas quickly on all of the devices. Macgourmet routinely lost recipes or changes so I never could recommend the program to others.

I have been searching for years for a good program. This is beyond was I thought I wanted. I love this program, love the 'download' button. Love the sync with ipad (kept in kitchen) phone (with me to look at in grocery store) and desktop (in studio). Thank you!!!
  • Sweet Paprika - Easy to Import from "The Recipe Manager"

i just download this and was switching from the no longer supported "The Recipe Manager." The user manual was not very helpful on how to import files, but after playing around a few minutes, I found an easy way to export/import all "The Recipe Manager" recipes. Simply select all of the recipes in "My Recipe Manager", export all as a single text file to the desktop. In "Parpika" simply import the single text file and it extracts the individual recipes with a couple of clicks. Pretty sweet. So far looks easy to edit recipes. Have not tried other features.

I recently switched to a ketogenic diet lifestyle and it has been life-changing! Losing weight, arthritis going away, all great stuff. It was getting difficult to keep all of the recipes I found online, however. I'm so glad I discovered Paprika! Adding recipes from the web is simple and dinner time will be so much easier! Thank you for making such an awesome app.

I have been looking for and using recipe apps since before smartphones existed. We are talking PDA's and PC's...(I'm getting old...). I have always seen the upside and potential of digital recipes and grocery lists but nothing ever delivered so I gave up for a while. I gave this app a try when I got my new MacBook about a year ago. This app FINALLY got it right! I am loving it! There are many, many reasons to love it - one of which is having it across all devices that automatically sync. Get this one and the companion phone app, you will not be sorry.
