My experience was very positive with OpenPhone. The customer service goes beyond means to service you with all your needs. Very courteous and reliable service. I would rate them highly for everything in what they do.

I was in need on a virtual phone service that worked over the internet. I spent many hours searching for what seemed to be an elusive thing. Thankfully all my efforts paid off when I found you! The customer service is top notch and the app has all the features I need. Thank you for creating such a service!
  • Simply doesnt work. Support talks a lot, but does nothing.

Call quality is great. But actually making an receiving calls isnt something these guys have quite gotten the hang of. I actually upgraded to a new IOS to use their beta, at the suggestion or their tech support, who said it would fix my issues - something I should NEVER have had to do with any proper app, as it risks slowing down my phone. Making calls frequently results in a “call failed” error, even for valid numbers Ive dialed via the app before. Answering calls many times results in a dropped call. And calling the people back is glitchy! Absolutely not a serious solution, at best its some kind of beta (not even a working one). Tech support is “nice”, but does absolutely nothing. No one from engineering ever addressed any of my multiple issues. Had high hopes initially due to solid sound quality, but this just cannot be used for business or even personal purposes as is.

I can’t sent messages as I keep getting messages that I need to upgrade my account. And then I went ahead to buy another number for $19 and I was told that didn’t go through but then I was charged. Now i have an app that isn’t working and I lost $19 iTunes card. I need a refund or this app should be fixed.

If you are looking for a second line on your main phone but don’t want to have the inconvenience of another phone to carry around, weather it be for business, personal or other important use, OpenPhone is your absolute best option. I’ve been in the market of using VoIP based solutions for 6 years, having used all, many of them shut down since, but when it comes to features, layout and reliability, OpenPhone checked all on the list. - Port # in / out. - Support - Calling, SMS, MMS = Unlimited US/CA - Use Cellular Minutes, WiFi or Cellular Data option. - Call Forwarding - Caller ID, Voicemail - When abroad, Switch to Calls over Cellular / WiFi Data = never be without a working phone line and you remain local to your customers in USA and Canada. The team is wonderful, always prompt with answers and they are working on exciting features from requests I’ve made due to nature of use I have for the service. If you are serious about a second line on your phone as I am, this is the absolute one stop service for you.

After lots of research into second line options to run my small business on, I chose OpenPhone because of the well designed and easy on the eyes app, simple but robust offering, and the promise of good service. So far so good. Customer service has been EXTREMELY communicative and ready answer questions and help with any issues.

I tried many options in my search to finally move away from VOIP and go 100% WIFI/Internet for phone calls and for text. OpenPhone is now my top choice for business calls. Here are the Pros and Cons/Considerations. PROs - Unlike Line2, it works with the bluetooth in my car. And, it has great sound quality. And, they aren’t trying to extort more money if you need more than 1 lines or if you need the app to work across different devices. (Love, love the Line2 interface but it’s downsides were a dealbreaker.) Unlike Google Voice, OpenPhone does not rely upon having a cell phone after sign up. Unlike iPlum, calls and texts are unlimited; no credits to buy. (IPlum is great for vanity numbers though.) Unlike TextPlus+, I am not getting bogus calls for other people or spammers to excess. Nor am I having problems with no show texts that are delayed or never arrive at all. And there are no advertisements. (Text Plus is $1.99 per year to keep your number, though so... it has its pluses.) The toll free option is great for businesses. And, the notion of a toll free number for calls and for texts is mind blowing. All of the communications with a person are all in the same thread - regards of whether it’s voice, text, or voice mail. Voice transcription is fantastic! I love being able to read voice mails if calls come in when I am not available or on a conference call. The help files are actually quite good. They are built into the app and also online. If the software is not designed to solve the problem, then sending an email to Customer Service will help resolve the matter. They do not, however, has an online signon for account administration. CONs & Considerations The interface takes some getting used to. You may accidentally call someone or forget where to find the dialer until you get used to it. (Line2 has the best looking interface hands down.) To ‘validate’ your account, you must have a cell phone that is actively under a paid plan. It will NOT take a virtual or internet phone of any kind. Unlike Google Voice which always works, sometimes this account can be used for verification texts and sometimes the text never arrives. If you want to pay for two lines that ring independently (instead of giving people two numbers to call just you), you will need to sign up for a second account using a -different- cell phone line to use for validation. And pay 2 bills. This phone app does NOT support call waiting. If you get another call or if the person that you are talking to tries to switch you to another line, then it will cut off. Honestly, I rather love this. I’m not a fan of interrupted conversations. I think it’s rude and inconsiderate. And, to avoid Apple and iTunes hassles, I highly recommend signing up online and then downloading the App. The app’s sign-up wizard does not play nice with the Apple’s Family Sharing or lines with an existing account.
