    I installed the app and it caused my iPhone data to to not work for 1/2-5 hours each time. Worst experience. Couldn't use google maps and google search while traveling in Toronto. Caused great inconvenience and waste of time going to the local roaming service provider. Calling my cellular network provider. And finally apple. Terrible experience

  • Update: Location Services still an Issue

    As of July 2019, the stability issues with GPS access appear to be resolved (I’ve successfully connected to a rental car WiFi hotspot and VPN in France). The predictability of VPN servers, however, is impacting usability, with Air France, for instance, admonishing me that I’m connecting via VPN and thus have been flagged as “suspicious activity;” connecting through my wife’s NordVPN to my Air France account presents no problems. Accordingly, Symantec needs to institute some kind of pattern analysis security to keep unsavory elements off this VPN service, so the rest of us paying members get our money’s worth, and switch to more reputable VPN server / service providers. Randomly-rotating VPN Servers for access from authoritarian locations thus becomes a possibility, while also increasing the security of “open internet” access points that are now quite obviously flagged and abused. On a recent trip to Germany, the app went haywire hunting for a VPN server, accompanied by a flashing GPS icon, despite all location services being deactivated (as part of my troubleshooting, as I’m trying to link to our rental car’s WiFi service). I was unable to use any any smartphone GPS functionality and was forced to uninstall the app to even have WiFi functionality back. An option to allow the user to restrict and even stop access to location services would have been nice to have. This also begs the question why this basic privacy functionality is not already baked-in? Now back in the US, I’ve tried reinstalling the app and find it in an infinite loop, trying to add its VPN configuration, and failing. Symantec Tech support has also sent me on an infinite loop about this issue. Is this a pattern?

    Tried to cancel Norton. Called Customer Service on the phone. They said the phone people don’t handle that. Then I tried to cancel following their instructions but it didn’t work.

    I HAVE BEEN CONTACTED THREE TIMES BY THE “DEVELOPERS” STATING THEY WOULD LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE IT HAS BEEN OVER 2 MONTHS SINCE I SENT MY FIRST EMAIL AND HAVE YET TO HEAR ANYTHING. BEWARE OF THIS USELESS APP. This is a useless app don’t waste your time or money. It actually feels like a scam to get your money. The vpn worked for the free 30 days but as of day 31 I haven’t been able to use the vpn. I contacted customer service (what a joke) I was disconnected or transferred every time. After explaining the issue of the vpn not connecting I was told I didn’t login to the app (yes I did) they walked me through the steps of logging in several times with no avail. They had me delete and download the app several times. Which also didn’t work. Was then told I was in the wrong department that I needed to chat with a mobile rep. Transferred again only to be hung up on 3 times. I contacted them the next day and I did get a response from a agent stating: “Our Engineering team identified the issue as an operating system file was crashing during the profile installation. That they are working with Apple to fix this. However there is no ETA on the fix”. I asked for a refund and was told to contact Apple support for a refund. So now I’m stuck with a app that doesn’t work and out of the $30 because I can’t get a refund. I waited a week then called back, I was then asked why did I contact them as I declined the free upgrade from the rep last week. Which was a lie, so he said I would need to speak with a senior technician and asked for my contact info. I was called back only to be told he would connect me to the senior tech then I was transferred into a queue and waited on hold for 2 1/2 hours with no one answering my call. After reading some of the other reviews on the Apple app page, my next step is to contact the Better Business Bureau to report them as a scam company.
