Northern Lights Forecast & Aurora Borealis Alerts App Description

Aurora Alerts is an app designed to monitor real-time auroral activity and push alert to let you know if there may be aurora borealis (northern lights) visible tonight. Whenever you are home or away, Aurora Alerts will notify you if the possibility of seeing the northern lights exists. Main features: - short-term aurora forecast for next hour with weather conditions and moon Illumination - long-term aurora forecast for the next 3 days with weather conditions - long-term northern lights forecast for the next 27 days - show probability to see Northern Lights based on your or custom location - current auroral activity (based on observed and predicted Kp Indices from U.S. Air Force Weather Agency) - weather forecast to check visibility conditions before planning to see northern lights - solar wind data directly from the NASA satellite (wind speed, Bz, Bt and density) - unlike many other apps, it uses the local time instead of UTC Alerts: - when northern lights may be visible at current or custom location at the horizon or overhead - Kp index reaches chosen value - solar wind data reach chosen values - you can filter out alerts based on time of the day Boost your chances of viewing the northern lights!

Paid to get push notifications when the lights are out and... nothing. Not a one. Last night was an amazing show in Anchorage and not a peep from the app.

After checking multiple data sources, this app seems to be the best available for iPhone right now. I paid for the lifetime subscription and I can’t wait to try it out va other aurora apps. So far, it seems to be the most reliable with the best presentation of data. Thank you and keep up the great work!

Hi- I just upgraded to an iPhone 8, with the latest iOS, today. When I tried to open this app to use it, it immediately crashes. I’m disappointed, because I used to use it with my iPhone SE and the previous iOS, with no problems. It has been an extremely useful app, and up until now, I’d have given it 5 stars. Any chance the bugs will be fixed soon? Or that you have a solution? Thank you!

I would say this is a good app to have when traveling threw the Aurora country. I live in Alaska and it does a fairly good job of keeping me up to date on when I need to go out to get my best professional Aurora shots. But some times it’s not really great on accuracy for my location. I recommend a few more options for information on what all the features mean as some of my friends that have got the app say it’s a little less user friendly.
  • Excellent for Star gazers in North America

No complaints! Love the data, just don’t want to be bothered to pay for alerts every 6 months. Just give me a one time charge? As long as there are no clouds, moon, etc., it’s a reliable app that makes it worth getting up to gaze at worlds greatest site!
  • Alerts require subscription.

This app is not only severely limited without in-app purchases, even after you pay to unlock the forecast you can't set up alerts without recurring fees. My aurora pro let's you pay upfront and use a real app with notifications or en.vedur.is lets you get the same info on a free site.
  • Nickel & dime....

It's an ok app, the problem with this app is the functionality costs extra. If you want alerts, you have to pay extra, if you want long range forecast, it's extra, anything that is expected from this type of app is sold separate. That's annoying.

App seemed to work correctly with K values and data matching other sources and changing over time on the main screen. Then I purchase and "poof", no K values (except for 0), no predictions for aurora even though K values went to 6 yesterday. Cannot register or log in. What gives? I did get alerts for other data, but not for K even though it exceeded my alarm value. Disappointed to say the least.
