Columbus Dispatch E-Edition App Description

The Columbus Dispatch Electronic Edition brings you the page-by-page design and flow of each day’s paper straight to your iPad. As a subscriber you can download an exact replica of The Dispatch — including every page, story, photo and ad — whenever you want so you can take it wherever you want. The Dispatch iPad Edition is perfect for travelers, former central Ohioans, readers who don’t live in the Dispatch delivery area, folks who want to stay up to date on their favorite Columbus teams — or anyone who wants to take the paper with them every morning. Here's just some of what’s great about the E-Edition of the publication named the state's Best Newspaper by the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors the last four years in a row: • It’s been updated to more closely replicate the popular online Electronic Edition. Now, you can chose from a wider number of display options, get a quick “at a glance” digest of the day’s contents and more. This is no mere flipping of pages. • A left-hand sidebar takes you beyond each day’s edition with a live feed of Dispatch stories and updates as they’re posted • You can search within a day’s paper or in back issues of dates you choose. Search articles, ads, pictures — search it all! • It's quick to download and you can begin reading the front page while the rest of the newspaper downloads in the background
 • The toolbar allows you to easily jump around from section to section, bookmark stories, search the entire paper and more • You can read stories on the page (as you would the print edition), tap once to enlarge and tap twice for a special “story view”
 • Tapping a story’s “jump line” takes you directly to its continuation
 • You can easily share stories via email and popular social networks • Websites and email addresses mentioned in stories and ads are hot-linked
 • You can hang on to each paper for as long as you'd like — or delete it right after you're done

Columbus Dispatch E-Edition App Reviews

  • Great paper, horrible app!

    By Lake Rat Jim
While we love being able to read our favorite paper on our iPads, this app is a buggy and unstable piece of software. Most days it will require us to sign in again, and after we sign in the screen will freeze. The only way we can read the paper is by totally shutting our iPad down and rebooting. This has been going on for months without a fix.
  • Worst ever

Like many others I found this app always required me to sign in in spite of the fact I always checked “remember me” and many times froze after I did get it opened. I reported this several times and lastly to Michelle Everhart, assistant digital manager who acknowledged that she knew there was a problem and would take it to a higher level. After 2 weeks of the same frustration, I canceled our subscription. After all there are so many ways to get news.
  • Disappointed and Frustrated

    By OSUPharmD
We dropped the daily Dispatch after more than 20 years due to delivery problems and only have the Sunday paper and e-edition subscription now. For last month we have to re-sign in every day despite selecting remember me. Once signed in, the paper is frozen for a couple of minutes before being able to actually read it. The end of any subscription is near if this app doesn't improve
  • Bugs!

Locks up the first time every I open it every day. Fails to stay logged in on my iPad unlike it did in the past! PLEASE FIX this app. We pay monthly for this!
  • App Rarely Works On First Try!

    By Jesbuckeye
This App almost always has you to sign in even when you tell it to remember the user. Then once you sign in it freezes up! I have to reboot my iPad to get it to work. Just started doing this after latest update. Very frustrating!
  • Frustrated

    By Newtmari
I have been required to sign in weekly. Now it is two days in a row. I can’t get rid of the scroll on the left side. Why can’t it be an option on the top instead of being there every day. I am really frustrated and annoyed. Trying to contact the dispatch is impossible. The content of the newspaper is good but this app needs to be improved. Tapping ‘remember me’ does not work.
  • Worst app ever

Everyday I experience issues in reading my hometown paper. I have lost count of how many times I have had to delete and reinstall this app on my Ipad. EVERY time I read recent news I cannot go back to the e-edition unless I delete and reinstall. Spend some moment and please fix it Dispatch!
  • Get with it Dispatch

    By scdra403
This app has never been what you could call “with it”. Always has been old school. Who is in charge of the design/updating this thing? Newest “improvements” for this paid subscription for a publication with tons of print ads is a banner ad that once in a while fires up a video randomly. How nice! And then you get to log in every day, have the screen lock up and then have to reopen the app. Well done Dispatch; continue operating in the stone age and frustrate paying subscribers trying to operate in current day methods. Please get this fixed! Agree with others; if I could give it a 0 or negative rating I would. Time to fire whomever is responsible for your app development. Hey, since Urban Meyer is such a god in Columbus maybe he can figure this out; he’s looking for something to do now!
  • Would give it 0 if I could

    By Jpohio
Read your reviews! I am tired of having to log in every morning, then have the app freeze and have to close and reopen. And the app is not stable when open. Whoever developed this app should be forced to use it.
  • Fine if I can get it

    By donthavdone
We’ve been e-edition readers for 6 years. It worked great on all of our devices(iPhones and iPads). until several months back. Now about 75% of the time our devices freeze right after logging into the Dispatch. So frustrating! I’ve tried deleting and reinstalling, changing passwords, deleting cookies...everything the Dispatch told me to try. Nothing is fixing the problem. And why do I have to log in every time I want to read the paper from the same device? Never used to be like this. Please fix!
