UAV Forecast App Reviews

  • Excellent app for UAV pilots

    By Davermonk
I’ve only been flying for a month so everything is still pretty new to me. This app shows me exactly what I need to know for my flight planning purposes, and it does so with a really efficient and easy to read grid of information. Pros: > I can change thresholds for any of the weather or atmospheric metrics > I can send a snapshot of the weather/forecast to myself to add to my flight log later > The app is updated regularly. If you’re looking for sUAS apps (or any apps for that matter), check out the last time they were updated! > I bought the subscription and I think having several days’ worth of data is worth the small price - helps a lot for planning flights for later in the week. Cons: > Not a con, but a feature request. Please consider adding a way to store a few favorite locations. I currently save GPS coordinates in a notepad page and paste them into search when trying to plan a flight, but favorites would be a little easier. Overall excellent app for uav weather as long as they keep doing a great job keeping the app up to date and simple to use.
  • Inaccurate

This app is useless. At my location app states 100% cloud cover and states not good to fly. Looking outside maybe 50-60% cloud cover. Why is cloud cover a consideration in determining wether it is good to fly?
  • Change the fee for 5x the subscribers

$6.99 is a reasonable subscription fee. I would pay that and so would 60 people in my group, but this fee is ridiculous. Sincerely, Tesla holdings.
  • OK app, but they shortchange your subscription!

I’ve had the Hobby Subscription of this app since 2017 and it is helpful in providing hourly estimated drone flying conditions for up to 7 days. It’s good for planning days to fly commercially, however they usual far overestimate the wind speeds. But, if you have an FAA action, this is NOT a reliable weather reporting source. My biggest complaint is the app CANCELS YOUR 1-YEAR SUBSCRIPTION PREMATURELY!!!! I’ve been cancelled 5 times in two calendar years - and had to pay $24 again mid-year. Apple is no help in getting my money back. Save your $ and use Foreflight- an app approved by the FAA - for the most accurate FAA approved weather reports.
  • Great app

As a Part 107 pilot and first responder pilot, I depend upon an app to work consistently and accurately. The developers have stayed on top of problems and correct bugs quickly. A very good app. Must have for Part 107 pilots.
  • Use daily ...question

I love this app I have a suggestion if you could please add under the no fly zone settings if we are within the colored circle of certain airports or helo pads can you place that colored dot on the map where the airport is so we can see where's it at, not just the large circle range. This can help us adjust our location easier or be aware of what direction to be alerted. Thanks

  • It’s showing airports that’s been permanently closed

  • Very Useful

This app has made my preflight checks much easier. The only addition I would suggest is a date and time stamp added to the various reports. For those of us who do documented record keeping this would be a great help when required present evidence.
  • Inaccurate

Not a cloud in the sky here and it says 79% cloud cover. Another time it was completely cloudy and it said 15% cloud cover.
